NIT Sikkim Scholarship
NIT Sikkim provides several numbers of scholarships to its students who are marked with financial needs to lessen their financial burden during the years of study at NIT.
The Institute accepts all sorts of Scholarship schemes under Central Government norms. Also, students can opt for educational loans as it is very easily accessible these days.
Some of the Scholarship provided by the Institute are:
- Post Matric Scholarship- It is offered by the Directorate of concerned States. SC or ST or OBC students are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The Scholarship amount for SC and ST Students is 550/- per month and 1,200/-Per month, respectively while for OBC candidates, it is 350/- per month.
- Interest-Free Loan – It is provided by Dist. Manager for the development of SC or ST Students of concerned. The Scholarship amount varies State-wise but only SC or ST or OBC Students are eligible.
- Post Matric Scholarships to Physically challenged or Handicapped – It is awarded to the Physical Handicapped Students to encourage higher education.
- SAIL Scholarship – This Scholarship is offered by the Steel Authority of India Ltd for the students whose family income is less than 15,000/- Per Annum. The Scholarship amount is Rs. 4800/- P.A.
- Departmental Scholarships – This Scholarship is provided by the employer of the parents. If the student is being awarded of an employee in Central or State Govt. or other agencies or Bank or Railway or corporation etc.
- Coal India Scholarship Scheme – There are two types of scholarship available under this scheme one for BPL and the other for PAP and it is given on the basis of merit. Detail of scheme is available at www.coalindia.in.
- FAEA Scholarship scheme – Foundation for Academic Excellence & Access offers Scholarship to students who have qualified for admission but unable to pursue education due to lack of funds.
- GHES-Scholarship – It is offered by Guru Harkrishan Educational Society for those B.Tech students whose family income does not exceed 10,000/- PM from all sources. The Scholarship amount is 600/-P.M under this scholarship scheme.
- MHRD-Scholarship – Department of Higher Education provides scholarships to all B.Tech or B. Arch students who have secured more than 80% marks in 10+2 examination. This scholarship amount Rs10,000/- P.A.
