NIT Sikkim Campus Facilities
NIT Sikkim address is Barfung Block, Ravangla, Sikkim- 737139. It is currently functioning from a temporary campus at the Barfung Block, Ravangla, Sub Division of South Sikkim. Ravangla campus is surrounded by great scenic beauty.
NIT Sikkim campus will continue it’s all activities from this location until it’s permanent campus is ready at Khamdong, Sikkim.
NIT Sikkim campus has the fastest computer among NITs, which is the PARAM Kanchenjunga, one of the PARAM series of supercomputers. It was unveiled in April 2016.
The central library is well equipped with a number of scientific journals and magazines that caters to all the academic needs of its students. It functions under the multi-gigabit National Knowledge Network or NKN, which is a National research and education network.
All the academic buildings, hostels and labs are Wi-Fi enabled and they are connected through high-speed LAN. There is an auditorium inside the campus for all important occasions, debates and cultural events.
NIT Sikkim hostel is available for UG, PG and PhD students. There are separate hostel buildings for male and female students with separate mess facilities. Also, the institute offers boarding facilities to the faculty members, within the campus.
The campus offers all kinds of sports facilities that include cricket, football, volleyball playground and badminton, table tennis courts. In addition to that, it hosts a number of student-driven intra-sports tournaments for students of NIT Sikkim.
The campus has well-equipped labs for each department in order to develop students practical approach. There are a lot of student-driven clubs and societies in NIT Sikkim campus like innovation cell, the community development society Aayas, mechanical engineers society Yantrikaa, the Illuzion dance club, the photography club and a new literary club called Regnant Ink, which encourages declamation, writing, film making etc.
It holds an annual technology fest called Abhiyantran along with a three-day socio-cultural fest called UGDAM.
