IISER Mohali Course Highlights
- IISER Mohali offers a 5-year long Bachelor Of Science (B.S) + Master Of Science (M.S) programme. Aspiring candidates need to clear their senior secondary examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), State Board or any other equivalent board. IISER Mohali fees for the B.S + M.S degree is 3.63 lakhs.
- The institute provides a Master Of Science (M.S) + PhD programme for a period of 5 years along with a fee of 2.81 lakhs. Candidates need to have a B.Sc or B.E./B.Tech degree in a relevant field from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 60% or a 6.0 CGPA to be eligible for this course.
- The college also offers a PhD programme for a fee of 1.36 lakhs over a period of 3 years. Willing candidates need to have a Master’s, B.Tech, MBBS or M.Tech degree and should qualify in GATE, CSIR or UGC-NET, JEST, NBHM-JRF, JGEEBILS (TIFR/NCBS), GPAT, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF or DST-INSPIRE in a relevant subject.
IISER Mohali Admission Process
The IISER Mohali admission procedures of 2018 for specific courses are as follows –
- B.S + M.S admission - Admission is based on the Entrance Exam organised by the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) or JEE Mains. For final selection performance in 10+2 is also taken into account.
- M.S + PhD admission - Admission is based on the rank secured in JEST examination for Physics, and rank in IIT JAM for the desired specialization. After registration is complete applicants are called for a personal interview. Final selection is done on the basis of graduation marks and performance in the personal interview.
- PhD admission - IISER Mohali PhD admission 2019 is done based on the candidate’s performance in the qualifying exam and the screening test/interview.
IISER Mohali Placements
Like every other IISER, the one at Mohali to does not provide any on-campus placement facilities. Most students prefer to enrol themselves in PhD programmes at leading institutions in countries like US, UK, Europe, Australia and India.
They eventually get placed in top universities. Some students also opt for the MBA degree and a few even sit for the UPSC examinations. In 2012 a few of the companies that recruited IISER Mohali students include Accenture, Kotak Mutual Fund, Bajaj Allianz, Ernst & Young, Sharekhan, Aircel, IBM, BHEL, Bata, McAfee, Capgemini, Infosys e.t.c.
The maximum package was INR 7.16 lakhs while the average was INR 3.8 lakhs. IISER Mohali summer internship is also famous among students.
IISER Mohali Result and Cut-off
IISERs all around the country follow the same cut-off, which is decided every year for each state or board. Aspiring candidates need to score above the specified cut off, in their entrance exams, to get admitted into their desired streams.
The cutoff list of IISER Mohali results is prepared on the basis of the score obtained in IISER Aptitude Test or the KVPY examination. IISER Mohali Alumni Network
IISER Mohali has an Alumni Association, which holds frequent alumni meets to retain and strengthen the relationship between the students and their alma mater. The college does not have an active alumni network yet other than an alumni Facebook page with over 500 followers.
IISER Mohali Scholarships
The scholarship programmes of all IISERs are generally based on the following criteria.
- Scholars admitted through the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana to IISER Mohali will be offered a fellowship according to the KVPY norms.
- In addition to that, the Department of Science and Technology awards a certain number of ‘INSPIRE scholarships’ which offer a sum of INR 5,000 every month to candidates who take admission through JEE and SCB channels, if they reach the conditions and regulations set by DST. Students admitted to the Bachelor of Science programme in Economics or Engineering are not entitled to the scholarship.
- The institute also offers a full Tuition Fee waiver for SC, ST and PD students.

How is the IISER Mohali?
Like most colleges, IISER Mohali address is easily communicable and well-connected via railway and air routes with the rest of the country. The college has basic facilities like canteens, cafeterias, auditoriums and health centres.
- Library: IISER Mohali library was founded along with the institute in 2007 to serve the scholastic and academic needs of the students and the faculty members. The library was initially housed in one medium-sized hall at the Institute transit campus, MGSIPA building in Sector 26, Chandigarh with a stock of 500 books on the 13th of August 2007. On the 1st of May 2011, it was moved to its new location at transit Building in the Institute’s own campus in Sector 81, Mohali.
- Hostel: IISER Mohali hostel facilities are provided for both boys and girls.
- Sports: The Sports provisions available at IISER Mohali include an Athletics track, BasketBall Court, Throwball and Volleyball Court, Badminton and Table Tennis, Chess, a Cricket ground, Football, Kabbadi and Kho Kho.
- Location: The official IISER Mohali address is Knowledge city, Sector 81, SAS Nagar, Manali, Mohali (Punjab). The college is 9 km from the Chandigarh Airport and 15 km from the Chandigarh Railway Station.
