NIT Srinagar, abbreviated as NITSRI is located on the western bank of Dal Lake near the Hazratbal Shrine in the northeastern region of the Srinagar city.

NIT Srinagar campus is situated on the bank of Dal Lake, amidst the scenic beauty of Srinagar and just 23 km from the Srinagar International Airport, also 13 km from Srinagar railway station.

The campus has an automated Central Library that houses over 75,000 books and it has 3,500 plus users belonging from 12 departments and centres.

The NIT Srinagar campus area offers all the basic amenities to its students that include campus-wide fibre optic and Wi-Fi network, a central computer lab along with computer labs in each department, academic buildings, student hostels and residential facilities for faculty, staff and students.

NIT Srinagar campus area is also a part of high-speed National Knowledge Network. The college offers 100% residential facilities for students with separate hostels for the male and female students and separate mess facilities.

NIT Srinagar hostel has a common hall, which is adjacent to the hostels. The common hall provides facilities for indoor games such as table tennis and carom. In addition to that, the college has a gymnasium.

It has a Maintenance Engineering Centre set up under the Indo-Italian collaboration that the maintains engineering needs of the Institute and as the region and as a whole in respect of consultancy,  academics and research. NITSRI hosts a national-level technical festival called Techvaganza every year.
