NIT Puducherry Scholarships

NIT Puducherry provides a range of scholarship schemes that are introduced by The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India for the University students. A total number of 78 Scholarships are available. The scholarship amount is given Rs.1000/- per month at the undergraduate level for the first three years of College and at postgraduate level Rs.2000/- per month. For the students pursuing professional courses receives Rs.2000/- per month in the 4th and 5th year. The scholarship is paid for 10 months in an academic year.

NIT Puducherry Scholarships are awarded to the Indian nationals only. The candidates must pursue an undergraduate or Postgraduate or any Professional course in the college. During admission, only the students who score above the 80th percentile in any relevant stream from a particular Board of Examination, in class XII of 10+2 standard will be eligible. For ST or SC or OBC Students, the reservation would be applicable under Central Reservation Policy norms. The Scholarship is for pass outs of the Science, Commerce and Humanities Streams in the ratio of 3:2:1 with an equal number among boys and girls. The scholarship form has to be attested by the Head of the Institution in which the candidate is pursuing his or her higher studies.

The Scholarship will be renewed if the applicant has to pass in all the subjects with not less than 60 % marks or equivalent, in the annual examinations or aggregate of 2 semesters in the course pursuing. Also, the students have to maintain more than 75 % attendance, good discipline and should not have involved in ragging activities. Apart from that, some research fellowships are provided to full-time PhD Students, who lack access to financial support or scholarship from other Agencies or State or Central  Governments.
