NIT Puducherry Admission Process
NIT Puducherry is among the 10 new NITs that are sanctioned as a part of the Eleventh five year plan by the Government of India in 2009. This institution was mentored by National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli during the initial years.
Students are admitted for undergraduate programs based on the merit list prepared by considering marks scored in Joint Entrance Examination or JEE Mains and for PostGraduate programs merit list is prepared based on the GATE exam scores.
NIT Puducherry Admission Highlights
- For Undergraduate level B.Tech courses, candidates are shortlisted based on the JEE main rank followed by counselling. All applicants must score at least 75% marks in 10+2 in science stream or top 20 percentile marks in 12th class examinations.
- For PostGraduate level M.Tech courses, all applicants are shortlisted on the basis of GATE score followed by counselling. Candidates must have a minimum of 60% or 6.5 CGPA in B. Tech or CSE or IT or ECE or EEE. Otherwise, candidates with a minimum of 55% or CGPA 6.0 in MCA or a minimum of 55% or CGPA 6.0 in M.Sc or in Computer Science can apply.
- For NIT Puducherry PhD admission 2019, All applicants can apply with a Valid GATE or UGC or CSIR or NET score and selected candidates must go through written test and interview conducted by the Institute. Also, the candidates having Master’s in Engineering or Technology with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or Basic Science First Class Master’s degree with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the relevant discipline can apply.

NIT Puducherry Admission Procedure
UG Course
To get admission in undergraduate B.Tech course, the applicants must pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 75% marks or top 20 percentile from a recognized board. Final admission will be given on the basis of JEE Main rank followed by counselling.

PG Course
To secure a seat in postgraduate M.Tech course, the candidates need a B.E or B.Tech degree with minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA in CSE/IT/ECE/ EEE or Minimum 55% or CGPA 6.0 in MCA; or Minimum 55% or CGPA 6.0 in M.Sc. in Computer Science. On the basis of GATE score followed by CCMT counselling the final selection will be done.

Doctoral Course
For getting admission in PhD the aspirants must have Master’s in Engineering/ Technology with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA; Basic Science First Class Master’s degree in Science with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the relevant discipline. Valid GATE/UGC/CSIR/NET score is mandatory for full-time candidates. On the basis of written test the final selection will be done.
