NIT Mizoram Campus Facilities

NIT Mizoram campus is situated amidst the scenic beauty of Mizoram. It is known for being one of the most educated states in the country due to a literacy rate of 91%. The peaceful environment of NIT Mizoram makes a suitable calm environment for studies.

The NIT Mizoram campus was initially planned to be built in Thenzawl by the Chief Minister of Mizoram Pu Lalthanhawla. Later it was moved to a new location near Lengpui Airport, which is very close to Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram.

The new campus is spread over 190 acres of land. The campus is located in close proximity to Aizawl, so it is well connected by air and road transport.

In order to cope with the present competitive needs, the campus laboratories are well equipped and installed with the best and latest software. The Institute is currently functioning from a temporary campus in the city of Aizawl.

The temporary campus consists of an administrative block, four academic blocks at Chaltlang, three hostel blocks at Tanhril and one hostel block at Durtlang. Currently, all the students are lodged in the Saizahawla Boarding School in Tanhril, near Mizoram University.

Tanhril and Durtlang have two more residence halls. The college has its own mess in each hostel, which provides breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner.

The hotels offer all the basic amenities like purified drinking water, security for 24 hrs, a generator is installed for power backup, sanitation and cleaning service every day, the emergency vehicle is stationed near the hostel, TV, Sports and Gym rooms and buses for transportation from the institute.

The campus offers proper health care to its students and in case of any medical emergencies, it has two leased out emergency vans always debuted in the hostels along with a driver. The van is available 24 hours and seven days a week. In addition to that, it has seven leased out buses for transporting the students staying in hostels.

These buses bring the students every day from the hostel to the Institution and vice versa. NIT Mizoram has an automated central library with an integrated library management software package ‘LIBMAN’.

The library has a large collection of books on various topics of engineering and technology, which are available through the Online Public Access Catalogue. The users can access it through the IP based online access. The library remains open for five days a week as per normal office timing.
