National Institute of Fashion Technology uses the medium of instruction is English. Thus, all applicants who are seeking admission at the institute must have a working knowledge of the English language to be eligible to apply.

Additionally, aspiring candidates also need to possess basic computing knowledge along with computing skills that are applied to the operating system, word processing, text editing, spreadsheets, database application, presentation and net surfing abilities etc. For NRI candidates to be eligible to apply, they need to have Common Merit Rank or CMR that falls under Children or Wards of NRI category are provided with an opportunity to opt for NRI seats. However, all candidates must submit the necessary documents during admission.

Admission to the undergraduate level courses is conducted through the marks scored in entrance examination followed by the selection process. Hence, NIFT results are declared after the entrance examination scores are released. In order to secure admission to the postgraduate level courses, candidates are shortlisted based on the marks scored in the entrance exam.

Once the entrance examination scores are released, NIFT Cutoff is declared. The candidates who scored above the NIFT cut off marks are eligible to move forward in the future selection process. In case, two candidates have scored equal marks in the entrance examination then the older candidate is given preference during admission. There’s no age limit to apply at the institute.
