HBTU Admission Process
Harcourt Butler Technical University, formerly known as HBTU is one of the best engineering colleges in India. It is a state technical university located at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh in India.
The institute was named after Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler, governor of the United Provinces in British India. Admission to the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level programmes is done on the basis of entrance exam scores followed by counselling process.
HBTU Admission Highlights
- HBTU admission 2019 for B.tech course, is done on the basis of marks scored by the candidates in JEE Main or UPSEE entrance test. The second step is a counselling process. All applicants must pass senior secondary school from CBSE or any other reputed board with a minimum of 45% marks for general candidates and 40% marks for SC or ST candidates to be eligible. Also, candidates must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- For postgraduate level HBTU M.tech admission, candidates are shortlisted based on GATE scores along with counselling. All candidates should have a B.Tech degree in Electronics & Communication, Computer Science & Engineering, IT, Electrical Engineering, M. Sc. in Electronics, Computer Science from a reputed university with a minimum average of 50% marks and 40% marks for general category and SC or ST candidates, respectively.
- For HBTU Kanpur admission for the PhD course, candidates are shortlisted based on entrance examination scores and personal interview. Students, who have completed UG or PG degree in relevant subject with an average minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university are eligible to apply for the course.

HBTU admission to the undergraduate level courses is done on the basis of JEE Main or UPSEE entrance test followed by counselling.

HBTU admission process for postgraduate level HBTU M.tech admission is done on the basis of GATE scores. Candidates are shortlisted based on GATE scores along with counselling.

Admission to the doctor level PhD course is conducted through entrance examination scores and personal interview. Candidates having UG or PG degree in relevant subject with an average minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university are eligible to apply for the course.
