Located in Bahadurpally, Hyderabad, Mahindra University is a private engineering college. Established in 2013, it is affiliated with JNTU. As of 2019, the university has successfully graduated two batches.
Admission to the B.Tech program is determined by the All India Rank assigned to candidates based on their performance in JEE Mains. Prospective students interested in pursuing this program must engage in counseling sessions facilitated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and utilise their All India Rank. These counseling sessions occur in multiple phases, aligning with the choices made by each candidate.
Once a candidate has been assigned their preferred choice, they are required to visit MU Hyderabad to complete the payment of the admission fee and officially confirm their seat acceptance. In case they have not been allotted their desired choice, they are eligible to participate in subsequent rounds of counseling.
Among the available branches at MEC Hyderabad, Computer Science Engineering (CSE) is the most sought-after. There are two primary reasons for this preference:

- ₹ 8 Lakhs p.a. i.e. ₹ 16 lakhs for entire program
- Exclusions: Boarding & lodging, costs of study material like books etc. are not included in the fee and these costs will be additional.
Boarding & Lodging Fee
The hostel fee is ₹ 2 lakhs p.a. and meals are included in the fee.
International Immersion Costs
The cost of boarding and lodging for international immersion is included in the fee. The cost of international travel including tickets, visa charges etc. is to be borne by the student additionally and is not included in the tuition fee.
Sightseeing and incidental expenses like laundry and some meals will also have to be borne by the student and is not included in the tuition fee.

International Immersion
The program includes an international immersion where all students will be required to go an international trip to gain an appreciation of international diversity and develop the mindset of a global manager.
Each year, the trip may be to a different location like Europe, China, Australia, Africa etc.

Mahindra University Hyderabad B.Tech Selection Criteria
Mahindra University Hyderabad’s B.Tech selection process entails the following steps:

Registration and Counseling: Candidates are required to register for counseling on the official JoSSA website. This is where seat allocation, document verification, and issuance of the final admission letter take place.

Merit List Creation: A merit list is prepared based on a combination of 12th-grade examination scores and JEE Main marks. The list is categorised by All India Ranks (AIR) for each candidate.

Tie-Breaking Policy: In the event of two candidates securing identical scores, the following tie-breaking rules are applied:
- Candidates with higher positive marks are assigned a superior rank.
- If the above criterion fails, the candidate with higher marks in Mathematics is given a higher rank.
- If the tie persists, the candidate with higher marks in Physics is granted a higher rank.

Choice Filling: Candidates, based on their rank, can select their preferred branches at Mahindra University. These choices should be listed in descending order of preference. It’s advised to lock in as many preferred choices as possible because locked choices cannot be altered.

Seat Allocation Rounds: JoSAA conducts seven rounds of seat allocation for academic programs.

Seat Acceptance: Once allotted the desired branch, candidates must pay the seat acceptance fee and undergo document verification at the reporting center to provisionally secure their seat.

Options if Desired Choice is Not Allotted: If the preferred option is not allotted, candidates have three choices:
- Freeze: Continue with the allotted option.
- Slide: Accept the allocated seat but aim for a better field within the same college.
- Float: Accept the allotted seat while seeking a better field as well as a different college.

- Complete the application by entering your personal and academic details as required.

- Make the application fee payment.
- After successfully paying the fee or uploading the fee payment details, submit the completed application form.

PIO/NRI students are required to pay an application fee of $50, which can be submitted in cash at any bank or by creating a demand draft of the same amount in favor of “Mahindra University,” payable at Hyderabad, India. If opting for a demand draft, enter all the DD details on the Application Portal.

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. at Mahindra University
To be eligible for the Ph.D. program at Mahindra University, candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, Humanities, or Social Sciences, with a minimum CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale or an aggregate of 60% marks.
For full-time students who do not possess an M.Tech. or equivalent degree but have a B.Tech. or equivalent degree, they must meet a higher requirement of a CGPA of 7.00 on a 10-point scale or 70% aggregate marks. Additionally, they need to provide a valid GATE score or qualify in the UGC/CSIR/DBT/INSPIRE Fellowship Examination for Sciences/Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines.
The necessity of GATE or a national examination can be waived for admission consideration into Ph.D. programs for graduates from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes holding a B.Tech./B.E./Integrated M.Sc. (or any other program with a minimum duration of four years, admission to which was based on JEE) with a CGPA of 8.00 or higher at the time of graduation.
Similarly, the GATE/National Examination requirement can also be waived for M.Sc. graduates from IITs who have achieved a CGPA of 8.00 or higher during their studies.
