IIT Tirupati Campus Life And Events
The institute organises a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities alongside its academic programs. Several student groups have been established to stimulate students’ interests and enhance their learning experiences. The Entrepreneurship Cell, for instance, conducts regular seminars on entrepreneurship and technology workshops, encouraging students to come up with innovative solutions for contemporary challenges through competitions. For relaxation and recreation, students at IIT Tirupati can engage in various activities offered by groups like the adventure sports club Aranya and the fitness center. Furthermore, there are multiple cultural organisations, including PFC, Artista, Actomania, Xcite, Sargam (a music organisation), and PFC (a photography group).
IIT Tirupati boasts approximately 14 active clubs and organisations that facilitate a wide range of extracurricular events. These events encompass activities such as Chaturanga (chess), Xcite (dance), Techmaniacs (robotics), and Digital Wizards (coding). As the student body has expanded, so too has the diversity of club activities.
These clubs play a significant role in preparing participants for various Inter-IIT competitions, spanning cultural, technical, and athletic domains. Furthermore, the institute established its Fitness Club as a contribution to the Fit India Movement, offering yoga classes and informative webinars on relevant topics.
To address the mental health of students, the Guidance and Counseling Unit, known as Sarathi, provides valuable support through counseling sessions, orientation programs, yoga workshops, and life-skills training.
Tirutsava, an annual techno-culture festival conducted at IIT Tirupati and orchestrated by the students, takes place every February. This festival encompasses a diverse range of technical and cultural events. It provides students with the opportunity to explore their creative and analytical abilities through activities like coding challenges, brainstorming sessions, discussions, quizzes, and cultural performances, including stand-up comedy, skits, dramas, and more.
IIT Tirupati’s vibrant SPIC MACAY chapter has been diligently engaged in raising awareness about Indian classical music and dance within the younger generation. In August 2019, the institution hosted the Virasat series, which included a series of art workshops and captivating musical performances by renowned artists.
