For Humanities and Social Sciences:

• A master’s degree in an eligible discipline with a strong academic record or equivalent, along with a valid GATE score, UGC/CSIR-NET, NBHM, or an equivalent qualification applicable for the current year in the relevant field.

For Engineering/Sciences:

• An ME/M.Tech or MS by Research in Engineering, or a 2-year M.Sc. from IITs (entrance through JAM) with a CGPA of 8.0 or higher, or a BS+MS (5-year integrated) from CFTI.

IIT Tirupati PhD Selection Process

Admission to the PhD program at IIT Tirupati is based on the following criteria:

• Candidates can be admitted as Regular full-time scholars or as Research scholars under the external registration program. External registration is available to candidates sponsored by industries, organisations, national laboratories with R&D facilities, and recognised by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) or by IIT Tirupati.
