BITS Pilani Course Admissions 2024
Admission to BITS Pilani for all programs is based on entrance tests. For integrated first-degree programs (BE, B.Pharm, and M.Sc), the university conducts the BITS Admission Test (BITSAT). For higher degree programs (ME and M.Pharm), BITS Pilani conducts the BITS HD online test and also accepts GATE/GPAT scores. Admission to the MBA in Business Analytics program is based on the Business Analytics Admission Test (BAAT), a personal interview, CAT/XAT scores, work experience, and academic history. In addition to these programs, BITS Pilani offers doctoral programs and a B.Sc. in Computer Science in association with Coursera.
BITS Pilani BE, B.Pharm, and M.Sc Admissions 2024
BITS Pilani offers on-campus Integrated First Degree programs, including BE, B.Pharm, and M.Sc, each with a duration of 4 years (8 semesters). Admissions to these programs are conducted through various schemes such as BITSAT, the Board Topper’s Scheme, the International Students’ Admission Scheme, and the BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy’s Admission Scheme. Admission Process
BITS Pilani conducts admissions to its Integrated First Degree programs through the following methods:

Through BITSAT: BITS Pilani conducts an all-India level test known as BITSAT (BITS Admission Test) for BE, B.Pharm, and M.Sc programs. Candidates must appear for BITSAT to be eligible for admission.

Board Toppers: Direct admission is provided to first-rank students of all central and state boards, irrespective of their BITSAT score. First-rank PCM stream students can choose any first-degree program, while PCB stream toppers are considered for the B.Pharm program only.

International Students’ Admission: Candidates with foreign passports and valid Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores can apply without taking BITSAT. They must have a minimum aggregate score of 1160 out of 1600 in SAT (new format), including the Reading Test, Writing and Language Test, and Math test.

BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy: Candidates who appeared in BITSAT can opt for this mode of admission, receiving two degrees awarded separately and simultaneously from both BITS Pilani and RMIT Australia.
BITSAT Cutoff
BITS Pilani’s cutoff for 2024 will be released tentatively between July and August. Cutoff scores are based on BITSAT examination results. Below are the cutoff scores for the past two years:

BITS Pilani offers ME and M.Pharm programs, each spanning 2 years. The ME program is available in 14 specializations, while the M.Pharm program has 3 specializations. The fees for these programs are INR 6,94,575 (excluding hostel and mess fees) for the first year. Admissions are based on scores from the BITS Higher Degree (BITS HD) Online Test or GATE/GPAT. Selection Criteria
- ME Programs (excluding Software Systems): Admission is based on scores from the BITS HD test or GATE/GPAT.
- ME in Software Systems: Admission is through the BITS HD test only.
- GATE Scores: Scores from GATE 2024, 2023, or 2022 are considered for ME admissions.
- GPAT Scores: Scores from GPAT 2024, 2023, or 2022 are considered for M.Pharm admissions.
Two separate merit lists are released for final admission offers: one based on GATE/GPAT scores and the other based on BITS HD test marks. Each program allocates up to 50% of seats based on GATE/GPAT scores and the remaining 50% based on BITS HD test marks.

BITS Pilani MBA Admission 2024
BITS Pilani offers a full-time, two-year MBA program in Business Analytics through its Department of Management. The program has a total intake of 80 students. The fees for the MBA program are INR 6,94,575 for the first year, excluding hostel and mess fees.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
- Have studied at least one subject in Mathematics or Statistics at the 10+2 level.
- Candidates in their final year of the qualifying degree are also eligible to apply.
Selection Criteria
- Admission is based on the Business Analytics Admission Test (BAAT), conducted by BITS Pilani.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview.
- Final selection is based on the BAAT performance, the personal interview, scores from CAT (2023), XAT (2024), or GMAT (2023) if available, along with work experience and academic history.
BITS Pilani Ph.D. Admission 2024
BITS Pilani offers a Ph.D. program in various modes: regular, part-time, faculty development scheme, and Ph.D. aspirant scheme. The program spans 2 to 5 years and covers over 13 specializations in Engineering, Sciences, and Management. Ph.D. scholars receive a monthly stipend ranging from INR 28,000 to INR 31,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be employed in organizations collaborating with BITS Pilani for practice school, research, or WILP activities.
- For Engineering, Sciences, and Management programs: M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm./MBA/M.Phil. or an equivalent degree with at least 60% aggregate marks.
- For candidates with M.Sc./B.E./B.Pharm. or equivalent degrees, a minimum of 60% aggregate is required.
- For Humanities and Social Sciences: M.A. degree with at least 55% aggregate marks is acceptable.
Selection Criteria
- Admission is based on an entrance examination and interview conducted by BITS Pilani.
- Candidates with M.Phil., M.E., M.Tech., or national-level fellowships like CSIR NET-JRF, DBT-JRF, or UGC NET-JRF are exempt from the written test but must attend the personal interview.
- The entrance test is divided into two parts:
- Test-I: Common for all disciplines, covering General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis, and Research Aptitude. It includes 30 multiple-choice questions, lasting 1 hour. Each correct answer earns 2 marks, with a 0.5 mark deduction for incorrect answers.
- Test-II: Discipline-specific. For Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, Test-II will be specific to the chosen discipline. For Humanities, Social Sciences, and Economics, Test-II will also be subject-specific.
Humanities & Social Sciences Entrance Test Format:
- Reading Comprehension: 5 questions per passage (2 passages) – 20 minutes
- Logical Reasoning: 10 questions – 20 minutes
- Analytical Reasoning: 10 questions – 15 minutes
- General Awareness: 10 questions – 15 minutes
Application Process 2024
The application process for BITS Pilani usually starts with the release of application forms. For 2024, admissions are based on merit in BITSAT. The institute also considers scores from other national-level tests such as JEE Main, SAT subject tests, and board examinations.
