BITS Pilani Courses & Fees

BITS Pilani provides first-year, advanced-degree, doctoral, and off-campus programmes. These courses are available in engineering, technology, management, sciences, pharmacy, humanities, and social sciences. BITS Pilani offers BE/BTech, BPharm, and other integrated programmes at the undergraduate level. MTech, MBA, MSc, MPharm, and Ph.D. programmes are available at the postgraduate and doctoral levels, respectively. Admission to all programmes is based on the results of national and institute-level entrance exams.

What are Dual Degree Programs at BITS Pilani?

Dual degree programs at BITS Pilani are a popular choice, allowing students to earn two degrees simultaneously within ten semesters (five years). Students initially enroll in any BE or M.Sc program, and at the end of the first year, they have the option to add a second degree based on their CGPA. The most common dual degree combination is BE + M.Sc, as the M.Sc (Hons) program typically has a lower cutoff, enabling students to obtain a BE degree in their chosen engineering field along with a Master of Science degree.

BTech from BITS Pilani

The NIRF Engineering rankings 2021 place BITS Pilani BTech at 26. In its BTech programme, the institute offers seven specialisations. In addition, for working professionals only, BITS Pilani WILP offers off-campus BTech degrees in Engineering Technology and Process Engineering. Admission to the regular BTech programme is based on BITSAT scores. Admission to the off-campus BTech programme, on the other hand, is based on the students' performance in their most recent qualifying examination.

MBA from BITS Pilani

The Department of Management at BITS Pilani offers a two-year on-campus MBA in Business Analytics. BAAT entrance scores are used to determine admission to the BITS Pilani MBA programme. BITS Pilani WILP also offers online MBA program in seven specialisations.

These WILP MBAs are specifically designed for working professionals, allowing them to further their education while continuing to work in an organisation. The merits obtained by students in their most recent qualifying examination are used to select them for online MBA program.

MTech from BITS Pilani

BITS Pilani provides a two-year MTech/ME programme with 16 specialisations. BITS Pilani MTech/ME admission is based on BITS HD or GATE entrance scores. Candidates with any of the valid exam scores are eligible to apply for the programme. Furthermore, the institute provides a variety of specialised online MTech programmes for working professionals and executives. In the MTech programme, BITS Pilani WILP offers around 15 new and emerging technology specialisations. Admission to the same is done on the basis of the student's last qualifying examination.

WILP BITS Pilani

Work Integrated Learning Programs (WILP) at BITS Pilani are technical continuing education programmes for working professionals and industries. The programmes provided allow students to gain experience in the working environments of various industries. The programme has grown in popularity over the years. WILP began with 30 students in 1979 and now has over 30,000 professionals enrolled. More than 1000 faculty members are affiliated with the WILP. Approximately 100,000 professionals have graduated with a BITS Pilani WILP certificate/degree to date.

Work integrated learning programmes are available to both working professionals and businesses. MTech, BTech, MBA, MSc, PG Diploma, and PG Certificate programmes are available to working professionals. The program's classes are held online on weekends so that the student's career is not disrupted. In addition, the institute offers tutorials, question-and-answer sessions, and industry talks to students. Organisational program, on the other hand, are specialised in IT, engineering, technology, science, and management. Data Science at BITS Pilani

Through its Work Integrated Learning Programs, BITS Pilani offers MTech Data Science and Engineering programmes (WILP). It is a four-semester programme that can be completed without taking a break from work. Mathematical modelling, machine learning, artificial intelligence, product development, and scripting languages are among the topics covered in the curriculum, which prepares students for the most lucrative careers in Data Science, Data Engineering, and Advanced Analytics.

• BITSAT: Conducted in two sessions, with Session 1 in May and Session 2 in June.

Postgraduate Programs (ME, M.Pharm):

• BITS Higher Degree (HD) Online Test.
• Accepts GATE scores for ME and GPAT scores for M.Pharm.

MBA Program:

• Final admission is based on performance in BAAT, personal interview, CAT/XAT scores, work experience, and academic history.

• Direct admission for first-rank students of all central and state boards to their program of choice, regardless of BITSAT score.
• First-rank PCM stream students can choose any first-degree program.
• First-rank PCB stream students are eligible for admission to the B.Pharm program only.

International Students' Admission:

• Candidates with foreign passports and valid Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores can apply.
• SAT candidates do not need to appear for BITSAT.
• Minimum aggregate score of 1160 (out of 1600) in SAT (reasoning), which includes a Reading Test, Writing and Language Test, and Math Test.

BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy:

BITS Pilani Admission Process

The step-by-step admission process for BITS Pilani is as follows:

Step 1: Application Form

Interested students must submit the online application form with qualifying examination marks and program preferences by the deadline. Applications for BITSAT sessions start in January, with a re-open window for session 2 applications in May. The BITS HD application portal opens in March. Step 2: Entrance Test

Candidates must appear for the respective entrance test, Writing Ability Test, and personal interview as per the course schedule.

Step 3: Merit List

BITS releases seven rounds of iteration results in the form of a merit list on the official website. For BE, B.Pharm, and M.Sc programs, candidates can choose the "Freeze" or "Slide" option. If no option is chosen, the candidate will be considered for all higher preferences in subsequent iterations.

For ME and M.Pharm programs, two separate merit lists are released: one based on GATE/GPAT scores and the other on BITS HD test marks. Each program fills up to 50% of the seats through GATE/GPAT scores and the other 50% through BITS HD test marks.

Step 4: Document Verification & Payment of Admission Fee

Candidates offered admission in any iteration must submit the prescribed admission fee within the given timeline. Upon successful fee payment, candidates are required to undergo document verification and will be informed about the commencement date of classes.

BITS Pilani placements for the 2024 graduating batch are currently in progress. For MBA students, the highest package offered so far is INR 27 LPA, with an average package of INR 17.36 LPA. Additionally, 77 companies have made a total of 100 job offers to BE students.

BITS Pilani Placements 2024 have concluded. For BTech graduates, 77 companies participated, with the average package at INR 30.37 LPA and the highest package at INR 60.75 LPA. In 2023, 109 recruiters, including top companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Visa, Adobe, and Cisco, participated in the placements.

BITS Pilani Campus BITS Pilani has three campuses in India and one in Dubai. The Pilani campus is the oldest and main campus, home to India's first technological museum, the Birla Museum. The campus boasts world-class facilities including state-of-the-art labs, a comprehensive library, and a well-equipped sports complex.

BITS Pilani Hostel - BITS Pilani is fully residential, providing hostel accommodation for all students. There are eleven hostels for boys and one hostel complex for girls, each referred to as a "Bhawan". Hostel rooms are fully furnished with internet connectivity, water purifiers, and solar water heaters. Common room facilities with Cable TV and telephone are available in each hostel. Every two boys' hostels share a common kitchen-cum-mess unit, while the girls' hostel has its own separate mess. The hostel fees for the first year are INR 66,300 (including mess and electricity charges), with fees revised upward each year.

• First-year students usually get double occupancy rooms, transitioning to single occupancy rooms from the second year onward.
• First and second-year hostels are newly built and in very good condition, with reasonable pricing and decent mess food. Rooms come with two LAN slots, two whiteboards, a pair of tables, chairs, beds, and two almirahs.
• Each floor has around four water dispensers and fifty washroom and bathing cubicles.
• The menu is quite diverse and updated regularly. While students mention the taste could be improved, the food is nutritious.

BITS Pilani Cutoff 2024 (Expected)

The BITS Pilani cutoff for 2024 is anticipated to be announced in July. The cutoff represents the minimum score required for admission into specific programs. Admission to the BTech (BE), B.Pharm, and M.Sc programs involves seven rounds of iteration.

Scholarship at BITS Pilani

For newly admitted students at BITS Pilani, a variety of scholarships and concessions are available. To assist its students financially, the institute provides merit and need-based scholarships. The following are some of the popular concessions and scholarship schemes available at BITS Pilani:

• Scholarship for Board Toppers: As a merit scholarship, BITS Pilani offers 100 percent, 75 percent, and 50 percent fee exemption to the top three board toppers of their respective boards. The scholarship is only good for the first semester's tuition.
• Merit in Qualifying Examination: Students who receive 90 percent or higher on the qualifying examination aggregate receive a 20 percent merit scholarship for the first-semester tuition fee.
