Hi all,
After much deliberation, I've decided to write CFA L1 in June 2007.
Me currently in my first year at IIMK.
Have done no systematic prep whatsoever so far.
Yet to register.
Will be frequenting this thread from now on.

hey friends,
I m in my 2nd yr of graduation . i m doing bcom hons frm DU which is a 3 yr degree course . I hv checked d CFA website but there's a lot of ambiguity regarding d minimum requirements to appear for d level 1 exams. I think dat only those pursuin a four yr degree prog. can appear in their final year . So does this mean dat I would not be eligible to give d CFA level 1 exam in the final year (i.e d third year of graduation.). . plsss clarify . Also is there any commerce grad. who's doing CFA and who did'nt hv a prior work ex ???plsss clarifyy . i m really confused . i really need ur help puys..plssss

ppl ne1 from mumbai planning to share the material cost for L1 (June07) count me in,,,, i believe original stuff wud cost abt 20k & xeroxing the whole stuff & Indian editions wud work abt 6 to 10k....
guys lets start collecting material,,,,thats the first step:-)....well these r the registration deadlines for L1..(June07)
1st deadline 27Sep06 (already missed that):wow:
2nd deadline 15 feb07 (total fees US$845)
3rd deadline 15Mar07 (total fees US$1155)...saving of US$310..
lot of moolah ..must say..
so guys lets start collecting notes & the preps so v can register for 15th feb deadline

I've also registered for L1 June '07.
It was really a tough choice, but I had to make a choice.
I haven't started any preparation, and I'm looking forward to some good gyaan in this thread :)
By the way... those who've registered for CFA L1 could someone plz post details on the kind of books I need to refer to, in order to get started??
(apart from the Schweiser notes)

I really appreciate that quick response...
But the problem is still not solved..

CFA site says "Have a U.S. bachelors (or equivalent) degree"
Problem out here is...
"Is a 3 yr Indian graduation degree equivalent to 4 yr American graduation"

Save the link in media player (version 9 or above), it tries to connect to site and plays the video while buffering simultaneously.

those who dont have broad band can use download softwares like download accelerator.
its demo version is free ...... type" download accelerator" in google and you will get the site ....download the free version... and start downloading the videos ...
there are many advantages..you can pause the downloads..no loss of downloaded part even when the power goes off..
i've used it sucessfully and have downloaded all the videos..and audios....
..

guys need help

SCREWED UP CAT-2006....getting 98.96%le but ZERO calls..

is it better that i take up a position as a software labourer and start preps for CFA level 1 in dec 2007...im aiming at bettering my profile in the finance so that i could app to US for MS finance may be for fall 2008 or even jobs back in bombay ll be great...

im wary of CAT 2007...

Well the perfect forum to get inputs about CFA. I am also planning for taking the CFA exams. Though the fundamentals of trading are known since i trade at BSE but novice at finance. I am a IT professional with 3 years of IT exp but want to change my profile to fin and then go for MBA, i guess in line with almost all the enthusiasts of CFA. Sorry for the time wasted on intro.

What are the prospects of getting a job after CFA - 1 in the world of finance, left aside clearing it or not. Just want some inputs where do i stand in the job market in finance after that.
Any inputs will be more than helpful.....

hi there fellas, me also giving the CFA level I in june 2007, about myself, me doing MBA from NIRMA University Ahmedabad and am a qualified MS(Finance) from ICFAI University Hyderabad, so do expect to enjoy an initial advantage at least in this particular course!!any queries pls feel free to ask!!
