no work without work ex, no work without a work visa, work visa tough for an ex-pat, work visa tougher for an India...

Exceptions:
If you are in the UK.... LBS, Oxford, Manchester(because it has an 18 months program with a 6 months compulsory internship at an MNC and the no. of work visas issued are by the dozens)... might be more; donno about them
Besides UK has something called as the High Skilled Man Power (HSMP) program which facilitates students from good universities get a work visa.

If you are in Aus... no exceptions... come back within 8 days of completion of the MBA...

Mate you seem to be on a dose of admission consultant goli!
Speak to some people who have done thier MBAs from Aus and UK. It will be a lot easier that way. Searching on net about such topics might not reveal satisfactory results.

Cheers!!!

Dude Nick Leeson... be advised - choose between tightening your belt or losing your pants.
We have seen many "Ladies" here displaying different styles as well as Different styles displaying many "Ladies"... I don't really know what your problem is? However, If you have nothing to contribute and are only good at disrupting proceedings, people here would prefer if you just buzz off. You have already been issued a warning from the moderator and I would suggest you to please back the truck up!

As far as H1B and HSMP are concerned...
Try getting your hands onto an H1B in the UK... chances are you won't... Being Adam's children is not good enough - it's the skin nowadays that makes all the difference.

Stricter Immigration Rules were implemented from 1st October 2004. A student in the UK will only be able to apply for the HSMP or a work permit if he/she has graduated in the UK. Furthermore, overseas nationals who are legally present in the UK (except visitors), may switch to the HSMP. Only overseas nationals in the following categories will be permitted to switch: Work permit holders, graduated students, working holidaymakers, postgraduate doctors or dentists or trainee general practitioners. Moreover, its a lot easier to get a work permit if you are enrolled under the HSMP program, 3 months to be precise.

It is only too easy to catch people's attention by doing something worse than anyone else has dared to do before. Try having a longer spoon next time you wanna dine.

Listen, learn NOT to make personal attacks. If you have a point, do make it and learn to back it up with requisite data. Else, you can always not post if you don't have anything constructive to add.

Once again... It is only too easy to catch people's attention by doing something worse than anyone else has dared to do before.

If you seem to be the know it all, why don't you try and contribute than just disrupt proceedings and create ill will within in the community.

As far as HSMP is concerened it is for High Skilled "labour" and I think I have already made my point not only in the previous post but in the next one as well.

Cheers!!!

A learned man you definitely are not... just one of those who wants to make thier voice heard.
My friend you fail to understand that a person will act freely only in cases where the person has willed the act. The person could (hypothetically) have done otherwise if the person had decided to. Obviously, you haven't read Thomas Hobbes.

Cheers!!!

I searched and found this as being closest to the thread to ask my questions.

(a) If I get through an MBA program in the UK, what will be the visa status of my wife ? Can she work there ? How can easy will it be for her to get a work permit ?

(b) Looking at the 1year programmes (presuming HSMP applies here) are there any hidden costs ? I have figured that the range is between 18K to 25K pounds. Anything more I should keep in consideration ?

(c) Is the HSMP process started AFTER I graduate or can I actually stick around on some kind of extended student visa or work permit ?

(d) How easy is it to get a work-permit once I graduate ? (Incase I dont go through the HSMP route)

The reason my questions are so HSMP-centric is because I reckon the ROI is going to be so freaking high, there is no way apart from working in the UK to repay the loan.

Arun

Hate to do this but.............*bump*

Arun

I know Arun its an old post but I presume that you might have collected the answers for the questions that you have posted above. I'm in a very similar boat and looking for same type of answers.

Appreiciate your help !

hiii...
i want to do mba from UK and i am confused between two universities and they are university of coventry and university of greenwich.
kindly help me in choosing the better option.

Thanks dip for bumping this thread. I have an admission for the 2 yrs MBA at University of Birmingham. Two years because my father insisted on that. I had 95%ile for CAT and XAT last to last year. But could not join anywhere because of some family issues. Now, Should I take up the Birmingham admission or should I give CAT again ?

I saw Birmingham in top 75 unis in Financial times rankings. Is the Uni and the course good enough ?

Please help. This is killing me !

Well i was in the same dilemma till last year & then decided to come to UK to do my MBA. I selected an AMBA accredited B-school, Swansea Uni,& now I feel that it was kind of right decision. Because, i spent little shy then 8 lakh Rs on my education, got a free accommodation because of a part time uni job & i hopefully well get a decent job also. If i would have been in India then i would have spend probably the same or more, but would have wasted 2 years to complete it & would have not got much exposure, that i got in UK. It depends on your career goals and how much money you are willing to spend, so think all the possible options before taking the decision...& if need any advise then please let me know!!

plzzz can u help me..i am utterly confused between the greenwich university and the coventry university london campus for mba..what shud i choose..
i am scared of if may not get job for my internship then i wont be able to complete my mba from greenwich..
n got to know that coventry n london is not grt..
i m badly confused..

Work harder to secure admissions in top institutes

guys..when u compare a reputed international B school...no IIMs stand a option..international schools r way too good for any indian school.:grab: \

check out the link:
http://www.thembatour.com/applicant/links.shtml

this gives rankings n their methodologies.
Well another pt i wld make is..even at the campuses of best Bschools in india..students make a beeline to secure a foriegn placement.
So in my opinion..if cost benefit analysis is done..international crses(reputed ones ufcrse) r far bettr than any options here!!:)

hey friends, i m new to this forum..
i have been doing quite a research of my own on whether to study in UK or not?
what i figured out that there are lots of rumors regarding MBA in UK, especially the placements.
Since the duration of MBA in UK in 1 year, I came to know that the govt. there gives a time duration of 4 months for an international student to find a job. if student fails to find a job within 4 months, his visa is cancelled and he/she is sent back to his/her respective country?
Can anyone verify this?
Is getting a job in UK very difficult for an asia students?
