hi friends,
Well dis is a dilemma to all those Aspiring students who would have 2 options either a
B grade b-school in india
or
MBA/Msc from UK !
I would really like a discussion on the pros and cons on this topic ...
ciao,
GF
MBA/Msc from UK !
Sure u have done ur research well. I fathom that there are no A grade & B grade courses in UK. 😛 😛 But if I were u and make it to London Business School, I would opt it over anythingelse in India!! 😛
All the best in wahtever u choose!!
hey my brother has done his MBA from london,, but not from good school,, he was telling me that if you are getting into good business school in india than dont go for uk,, and also indian education is good than uk,,and its a fact 😲 😲
But if I were u and make it to London Business School
Ya thats true evert Cat Aspirant in India dreams for IIm's and lands in the dust. !!
Its the same case for London Business School..each and every guy cant afford for studies in LBS and morover their eligibility criteria also matters !
Generally seeing Indian Mba gives more rigourous and indepth training but the lower B-grade school lag in providing placements in the top brackets and some are there for the money business.
So instead of landing there by paying 5 lacs+..its always good studying in Uk by taking up student loan
(no co-lateral thanks to Pallaniappan Chidambaram)..
But the main factor lies is the university in Uk, the course curriculum and the acceptance of the degree in competence with Mba in India
And morover with big kicks on arse frm many entrance exams in India one can fly overseas and discover himself !!
dude...it depens on wat you want....
there are universities...and well..then there are some more of them...if you are lookin at the UK ...for a Msc programme, Warwick, Leeds and Manchester are pretty alrite..any day better than all skools in india ( IIMs, XLRI, FMS, NITIE, SJSOm bein the exemptions)...Yeah...as somebody said even in london they serve trash in the name of management education...so you do need to a bit of research....
Cheers

hi sourabh,
As u said about the expenses .. its true that damages (expenses) are more in Uk..approx 5 lac to 6 lacs for 1 year just the Fees and plus the residence approx 1.5 lacs..
but the pros is u may get a part time job in UK that will recover 30-40% of the expenses and the course fees in Uk.
And about companies not recruiting People outside Uk it seems true but that also depends upon the individuals performance but its always easy saying ..when comes to practicality its a very difficult.
So friends lets pen down some universities and make a research !!
ciao,
Gf

Its better if you get in LSE..but the expenses would be too high !
And considering the fact in India u got many B+ schools where you can pursue your education..but man consider the time factor also for LSE...

guys..when u compare a reputed international B school...no IIMs stand a option..international schools r way too good for any indian school.:grab: \
check out the link:
http://www.thembatour.com/applicant/links.shtml
this gives rankings n their methodologies.
Well another pt i wld make is..even at the campuses of best Bschools in india..students make a beeline to secure a foriegn placement.
So in my opinion..if cost benefit analysis is done..international crses(reputed ones ufcrse) r far bettr than any options here!!:)
Hi guys and gorgeous girls,
I was just going through your thread and I just wanted to clear some doubts which had been created or assumed by some of the guys sitting there ( the employers here do not give jobs for guys outside europe)
This is not true. I did my MSc here in UK and was placed 6 months before by 10 months corse ended. The thing to remember is brand name: stick to good colleges and see there recruitment track record.
My friend did his MSc from Imperial and he got placed too.
My other gorgeous friend did her MSc from manchestor and got placed.
As far the debate on Indian schools are good or uk I would just say it depends on individual circumstances. Specially finance. SOmetimes family duty comes in the way etc etc.
( My profile:
Did my engineering from Pune University, then 1 yr job.
Got a scholarship for doing my Msc in Uk,
working in a 5bn worth utility company for 2 yrs)
cheers guys and happy course hunting,
ranjit

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge. I am not able to digest the fact you were placed within 4 months of joining your course.. Is this how placement works in UK ?. What exposure would one gain in just 4 months .. I wonder... Please throw more light into this !!
- T'Blazer.
Yaa I can understand it is quite difficult to digest sitting there.
Am I being accused of lying (by implying that my stuff can't be understood -hmmmm cool)
For getting into university one has to apply one year earlier. In the same way for getting a graduate job after masters one has to apply as soon as the guy reaches here.
The first thing:
THERE ARE NO PLACEMENTS HERE AND NO CAMPUS INTERVIEWS ARE CONDUCTED.
But hold your breath,
Each big company has its own graduate trainee program or other vacancies as per exp on their own website.
One has to apply to them as soon as he reaches here (that is the point where I acted fast)
Course starts - september
Application for graduate scheme for most comapnies ends : december
Interview start : january upto april (1 to 2 days interviews)
I hope this clears your doubt that I ain't lying to you .(ha ha ha)
cheers,
ranjit

Hi Ranjit,
Just want to ask u about the procedure for obtaining the scholarship. Can u pls give ur acad profile. mine is there on : http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/showthread.php?p=250535#post250535 . How good r my chances of procuring a schol. What was ur amt of schol.
Regards

Hi Folks..........forgive me bt I just can't keep my hands off any thread on UK education (thanks to those recurring visits to British Council ;)
thinking of UK you should look only at government funded universities, county/metropolitan, there are too many tiny-tots out there in the market just beware and target the best.
While MBA from Top notch univ. viz a viz. LBS, Oxford, Cranfield etc. might be difficult; MSc can be a very good option for those looking to specialise; be it finance, consulting, marketing, accounting (leading to ACCA), etc.
Also, if you have a decent profile and you go in for an MSc, its quite likely that you will not only get a schol bt the chances of getting placed are also better (cost-benefit analysis).
Just weigh your options and leap ahead, one year MBA/MSc from a reasonably reknowned univ. does no harm. :)
All the best!

Hi All,

MSc is Masters Degree which stands more than Bachelors but less than MBA. You can say it is like Mcom or MSc from India, but the onli diff is they have specialisation in that in many feilds. Also Msc is for 1 yr. rgt ppl
