I thank you for your interest in SIBM. Most of your queries is answered in our prospectus under the 'Selection Procedure'. There are weightages given for good academic performance. As far as cutoffs go in GK, it is pretty drastic 😃 (you are IN or OUT).

I thank you for your interest in SIBM. Most of your queries are answered in our prospectus. Your resume looks impressive and you should be the last person to worry about competition. The final list will be displayed on 16th February, 2008. The placements will be centralized at Pune and hence you should have no worries in that front & yes, there is a good gym at Bangalore too.

First of all I would like to thank you a million for patiently answering all our quires. You have been magnanimous till now. I am a 2007 B.Tech graduate in the field of computers placed in WIPRO. I had an opportunity to visit Microsoft, Redmond, USA in my third year representing INDIA in a world wide competition. It was a fully sponsored trip by Microsoft. My academic scores are
X(cbse) - 70%
Intermediate - 94%
B.tech - 68%
My questions are:-
1) What is the possibility of me getting through the PI competing with experienced elders?
2)If every thing goes well, when(date) will SIBM display its finally selected students list?
3)As SIBM Bangalore is a new campus, what is the probability of the same or better campus placements in Bangalore?
4)Remembering the saying 'one who asks a question may be a fool for a minute but who doesn't ask remains fool forever!!!' my last question is that, Is there a gym facility in both the campuses?

As MBA is my long term dream, I'm looking forward to pursue it from a renown college like SIBM. Hoping for the best and waiting for the reply.....

There were NO sectional cutoff's last year! Just an overall cutoff of 83.75

Dear Sir,

With regards to the Bachelors degree....

I am a student of Hotel Management and have done 10 + 2 +3 full time. With this i have gained a Twin Diploma for Hospitality Management and Catering Operations.

After this I went overseas to work for 40 months and my last position has been that of Team Leader in the front of the house division. I am also a Certified Group Trainer as well as a Certified Internal Quality Reviewer (ISO 9001:2000).

With the recent tie up of the college with YCMOU we were able to give exams in some specialized subjects and hence gain a degree. For this a reaserch project as well as written exams along with practicals were conducted. Even the IHMCTAN popularly known as Dadar Catering College the premier hospitality management institute are given the degree in collabration with IGNOU.

Please reply if i will be elligible for the MBA from SIBM.

Hi,

I had a query regarding the application forms to be filled for different specialisations like SIBM ,SIIB.. It has been asked to attach a copy of symbiosis application form with that.May I know exactly which form has to be sent--the snap online registration page which we have already sent along with the demand draft or the online application form which contains our details. i do not have a photocopy of the registration page.
One more clarification as to which particular subjects do we need to specify for class 10 which has been asked for in the application form.

i have seen that cut-off for sibm is 78+ last year. is the cut-off from the written test alone or over-all cutoff as some weightage is given to work exp, % in 10, 12, degree, ..

Cutoff last time for SIBM was 83 and they didn't have any weightage for workex while having the cutoff but there was weightage for work ex and acads in the selection process

Hi Sarita,
You have to send the online application form. If you have not specified the institution, don't worry you can change it later (depending your SNAP score). As far as class 10 subjects go, you can specify the main subjects like languages, science maths etc.

I have gone through your qualifications and experience. Unfortunately SIBM does not recognize the degrees you have mentioned before and hence I regret to inform you will not be eligible for admission in SIBM. I wish you the best of luck in your field.

SIBM is asking for sectional cutoffs...But the problem is the other insitutes through SNAP look for overall score and if we try maximising the score here ....we may miss the sectionals..Why cant all the schools in SNAP come up with a coherent guidelines like a min. sectional score and overall sectional score like IIMs do for CAT tht would be so clear for us students...

Also like SIIB they have a dumb rule like if u have a year back you cant apply....

Why cant u people act like part of one group and create the same eligiblity crieterias and conduct the tests and admission process would be much smoother.

Dear Sir,

I do believe that this is really unfair for quite a lot of students that have 10+2+3 as their diploma qualification.

If you see the overall structure of the Hospitality Management Course, you will notice that the inputs that go in this course are much superior and the students in a much better position to tackle the hi pressure industry than for the sake of argument, a perosn having done BA.

What i want to know is the ideology or the logic behind this policy.

Is it that you are looking for the efforts involved in the 3 years that it takes to get the degree. ( Which I am sure are tough with a 69 % pass mark in the American Hotel and Lodging Association exams.)

If it is that you need to spend 3 years in college and not doing just SNAP enterance exam prep. but also do regular study in which case 10 + 2 + One Shot Graduation can be ruled out but certainly not the 10 + 2 + 3 format.

If you see from the point of view of contribution of the student in the process of the course then a course that includes 6 months industry internship should be of more value in a case study environment of instruction.

Or do you think that the selection process is not efficient enough that it can give a chance to deserving candidates irresepective of the nature of their degree.

I hope to get a clarification on the above and even though I appreciate the best wishes, I will appreciate a chance for a good education from a premier institute like yours better.
