Hi,
The interviews for SIBM will be in Pune only. About SCMHRD, I really do not know, you will have to put your question to them.

Can anybody tell me where will be the interviews For SIBM and SCMHRD??Is it in PUNE Only or Delhi can be one of the cities......?

Dear sir, my name is Varun. First of all I would like to say thank you for taking time out to clear the doubts of SIBM aspirants like myself. I have a few doubts as to the exact expectations of SIBM in the SNAP test. How much focus will the institue have on sectional cutoffs this year? Or will there be any marginal relaxation on sectional cutoffs if the overall cutoffs are met or exceeded? I would also like to be a part of Coffee with SIBM if it arrives in Bangalore anytime soon. Thanks a lot.

Hi Varun,
You are welcome to be part of SIBM, our expectations from students like you will be based on sectional cutoffs which may vary from section to section ie different sections might have different cutoff marks. We will be glad to meet you during 'coffee with SIBM' and we are in Bangalore on 2d December, 2007.

Regards,
Pranab.

Hi,
I really like your persistence, keep it up. We at SIBM have nothing against the Hotel management course. If your degree is a full-time graduation degree (10+2+3 or 10+2+4) as per UGC rules then you are eligible to apply to SIBM. I really feel you should clarify this point so as not to be disappointed later.

Regards,
Pranab.

Dear Sir,

I do believe that this is really unfair for quite a lot of students that have 10+2+3 as their diploma qualification.

If you see the overall structure of the Hospitality Management Course, you will notice that the inputs that go in this course are much superior and the students in a much better position to tackle the hi pressure industry than for the sake of argument, a perosn having done BA.

What i want to know is the ideology or the logic behind this policy.

Is it that you are looking for the efforts involved in the 3 years that it takes to get the degree. ( Which I am sure are tough with a 69 % pass mark in the American Hotel and Lodging Association exams.)

If it is that you need to spend 3 years in college and not doing just SNAP enterance exam prep. but also do regular study in which case 10 + 2 + One Shot Graduation can be ruled out but certainly not the 10 + 2 + 3 format.

If you see from the point of view of contribution of the student in the process of the course then a course that includes 6 months industry internship should be of more value in a case study environment of instruction.

Or do you think that the selection process is not efficient enough that it can give a chance to deserving candidates irresepective of the nature of their degree.

I hope to get a clarification on the above and even though I appreciate the best wishes, I will appreciate a chance for a good education from a premier institute like yours better.

Thanks & Regards.

Hi Harsha,
The overall pattern of SNAP remains same. You need have no worry on this front.

Regards,
Pranab.

hi prof pranab,

This is Harsha again. In some of the threads in orkut I found that SNAP test pattern has changed for this year, Is this true and if yes, will you let us know the pattern in advance.

Warmest Regards,
Harsha N.N.

Hi Deeps,
I thank you for your suggestion. But you must realize that all Symbiosis institutes are autonomous in their own way inspite of being part of the same Symbiosis family, so I believe this enhances our individuality rather than diminish it. I guess we all have to live and prosper with it.

Regards,
Pranab.

Dear Prof
SIBM is asking for sectional cutoffs...But the problem is the other insitutes through SNAP look for overall score and if we try maximising the score here ....we may miss the sectionals..Why cant all the schools in SNAP come up with a coherent guidelines like a min. sectional score and overall sectional score like IIMs do for CAT tht would be so clear for us students...

Also like SIIB they have a dumb rule like if u have a year back you cant apply....

Why cant u people act like part of one group and create the same eligiblity crieterias and conduct the tests and admission process would be much smoother.

Regards
Deeps

Hi Junoon,
It is indeed unfortunate to hear about this problem. There are 2 things I suggest: 1.Contact the email ID given and 2.Call up 020-22934049/50 and contact Mr.Nihar. I am sure there will be a solution forthcoming.

Pranab.

Hi,
There are 2 ways to apply to SIBM. One is to indicate your choice during SNAP registration (online) and the hard copy of the prospectus will be mailed to you. Secondly, you can also contact IMS, Cochin center for a hard copy of the prospectus.

Pranab.

Are SIBM forms available from the institute only? Is there any way to fill them up online?

Hi Sunil,
The cutoff which you mentioned is from the written test alone, the weightage for experience etc. will be given during the interview process.

Regards,
Pranab.

Hi,
i have seen that cut-off for sibm is 78+ last year. is the cut-off from the written test alone or over-all cutoff as some weightage is given to work exp, % in 10, 12, degree, ..

Thanks
Sunil.

Hey,
I'm a BBA student from Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences, New Delhi. My degree, however, is through distance learning, but my course is full time as the Institute offers a Graduate Diploma in International Business (not recognised, obviously). So am I eligible for admission to SIBM? I know about the whole correspondence/distance learning criteria for admission, but does it make a difference if I actually am studying in an Institute, full time? I will have a diploma to prove it.
Please let me know asap as I do want to appear for SNAP and more importantly, apply to SIBM, SIIB and SCHMRD.
Thanks!

Thanks a lot sir, I'm assuming the event will be held in the new SIBM campus in Bangalore? I'm a 2nd time SNAP taker, with a top 2000 performance last year. I'm a commerce grad with a consistent academic record & 6 months work ex currently. Are these considered before a call is made, or are cutoffs the priority? Thanks..

Varun

Hi,
I realize your point but our rules are laid out by the university and we will not be in a position to recognize your qualifications for admission to SIBM.

Regards,
Pranab.

Hi Varun,
Our venue for coffee with SIBM at Bangalore is not yet finalized, I will let you know the venue shortly on this thread. All your claims for consideration will only come after you have cleared your SNAP, not before.

Pranab.

Hi,
You do not have to apply seperately for Pune and Bangalore. The location will be decided during the interview. As far as facilities go, both campuses are equally good.

I believe there are no different 'management seats'.

Pranab.
