Tier-I is the first stage of SSC CHSL Recruitment Process.
Question Type: Objective – Multiple choice questions only.
Mode: Computer-Based
There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

SSC CHSL Tier – II Exam Pattern
Tier-II Paper will be a descriptive Paper
Total: 100 Marks
Mode: ‘Pen and Paper’ Mode
Duration: 1 hour (6o mins)
Language: Hindi or English. Papers written in part Hindi and part English, will not be accepted.

The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent. Tier II marks would be included for preparing merit.
SSC CHSL Tier-III Exam
A] Tier III – Skill Test for Data Entry Operator (DEO)
Only those candidates securing minimum qualifying marks in the Computer Based Examination (Tier-I) and Descriptive Paper (Tier-II) will be called for Data Entry/Skill Test. The “Data Entry Speed” Skill Test will be of merely qualifying nature. Merit will be determined on basis of Tier I + Tier II.
Speed Test to ascertain the following will be conducted:
i. General DEO – Data Entry Speed of 8,000 Key Depressions/hour on Computer
Duration of Test: 15 (Fifteen) minutes
Instructions: Printed matter in English language containing about 2000-2200 key-depressions would be given to each candidate to enter into Computer to test speed of candidate.
ii. For post of Data Entry Operator in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG):-Data Entry Speed of 15000 key depressions/per hour on Computer
Duration of the Test: 15 (Fifteen) minutes
Instructions: Printed matter in English language containing containing about 3700-4000 key-depressions would be given to each candidate to enter into Computer to test speed of candidate.
B] Tier III – Typing Test for LDC/ JSA and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant
Typing Test for LDC/JA/PA/SA will be conducted for those candidates who qualify in the Computer Based Examination (Tier-I) and Descriptive Paper (Tier-II). The “Typing Test” will be of merely qualifying nature. Merit will be determined on basis of Tier I + Tier II.
Typing Test will be conducted in either English or Hindi. Thus, candidates while applying for the Examination, will have to indicate option for Skill Test Language Medium. If any candidate does not opt for any medium the option will be deemed as English medium.
1. English Medium
Candidate should have typing speed of 35 words per minute. This corresponds to 10500 key depressions per hour.
2. Hindi Medium
Candidate should have typing speed of 30 words per minute. This corresponds 9000 key depressions per hour.
