The State Bank of India specialist cadre examination offers the following four posts- the specialist executive manager, the general deputy manager (law, contractual), general deputy manager (law) and deputy manager (law). The recruitment process for all these posts is different.

• The recruitment process for the post of specialist executive manager and general deputy manager (both regular and contractual) is done through two steps. The first step to recruit a candidate for the said three posts is through shortlisting. This process depends on the qualifications of the aspirant and the candidates with the most experience and most reliable qualification under the eligibility criteria will be selected first for the second round.
• The second step will be the interview process where the candidate is required to answer a few questions related to their qualifications and their knowledge over the basic requirements for the job. In the interview process the interviewers note the body language of the candidate and the leadership factor that they are looking for. The said posts require the candidate to be able to manage a staff and to take responsibility for their actions as well. The interview process is for the interviewers to check if the appearing candidate is good enough for the post or not.

• The candidates who can clear the cut off marks are then required to give an interview.
• The selection process takes place depending upon the marks and performance of all the candidates together. It is a competitive examination and thus the performance of the aspirant before the last candidate also matter.

The State Bank of India allows 5 years of age relaxation for the SC ST categories. While the OBC category gets 3 years of age relaxation. PWD (SC/ST) gets 15 years of age relaxation and PWD (OBC) gets an age relaxation of 13 years. The PWD (General) category get an age relaxation of 10 years and the Ex- servicemen get an age relaxation of 5 years.
