JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Academic Qualification and Age Limit

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can check their eligibility to appear for JEE Advanced 2025 based on the following five criteria:

#1. JEE Main 2025 Scores

Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (across all categories) in the BE/BTech Paper of JEE (Main) 2025. In the previous year, 250,284 candidates qualified JEE Main to appear for JEE Advanced. The distribution of candidates by category is as follows:

#2. Age Limit

Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. SC, ST, and PwD candidates are eligible for a five-year age relaxation, meaning they should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

#3. Number of Attempts

Candidates can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years. Candidates who appeared for JEE Advanced 2024 for the first time may also appear for JEE Advanced 2025. Similarly, candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2025 for the first time can attempt JEE Advanced 2026. Candidates who appeared for JEE Advanced in 2023 or earlier are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.

(An exception allows three attempts for students who dropped out of their courses between November 5, 2024, and November 18, 2024.)

#4. Appearance in Class XII (or Equivalent) Examination

Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.
Candidates who appeared for Class 12 (or equivalent) exams for the first time in 2023 or earlier are not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025, regardless of the subjects they attempted.

#5. Previous Admission at IITs

A candidate must not have been admitted to any IIT in the past, regardless of whether they continued in the program or accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” or at a “reporting center.”

Change in JEE Advanced Eligibility:
OCI/PIO cardholders who obtained their OCI/PIO card before March 4, 2021, are now considered Indian nationals for IIT seat allocation purposes.
