IIT Kanpur has announced significant updates for JEE Advanced 2025:

IIT Kanpur has introduced one significant change for JEE Advanced 2025:

This year, the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria include a special exception. Typically, candidates can attempt JEE Advanced twice, but those who appeared in 2023 were not eligible. However, following a Supreme Court ruling on January 10, candidates who took the exam in 2023 and withdrew from their course between November 5 and 18, 2024, are now eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2025.

On November 18, IIT Kanpur reinstated the previous JEE Advanced attempt limit of twice in two consecutive years. Prior to this, on November 5, 2024, the attempt limit had been extended to three times in three consecutive years.

What is JEE Advanced?

JEE Advanced is the second-stage exam (following JEE Main) for candidates aspiring to enter IITs. Only the top 2.5 lakh performers in JEE Main are eligible to take JEE Advanced. It serves as the gateway to the prestigious IITs and is regarded as one of the toughest exams globally. The exam is conducted annually in CBT mode by one of the seven IITs or IISc Bangalore, under the supervision of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).

What does it offer?

  • Admission to undergraduate courses like B.Tech, B.Sc, B.Arch, etc., offered by IITs.
  • Entry to Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs at IITs.
  • IIT seat selection through JoSAA, based on JEE Advanced rank and course preferences.

What courses can you pursue?

  • BTech in various Engineering disciplines
  • BSc programs in Science
  • BArch in Architecture
  • Dual Degree programs such as B.Tech-M.Tech and BS-MS
  • Integrated MTech and Integrated MSc programs

Candidates who qualify in JEE Advanced are allocated seats in IITs based on their course preferences and JEE Advanced ranks through the common process conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
