What is the IISER Aptitude Test?
The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) conduct the IISER Aptitude Test as an entrance exam for admission to their five-year BS-MS dual degree program. Based on their performance in the exam, candidates can secure admission to IISER campuses in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, or Tirupati.
Students who have completed Class 12 in the Science stream are eligible to apply for the IISER Entrance Exam 2025. According to the exam pattern, the test consists of 60 objective-type questions that must be completed within a three-hour duration.

IISER Entrance Exam 2025 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the IAT 2025 exam for BS-MS program admissions, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
IAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Nationality
Candidates must meet the following nationality requirements to apply for the IISER Entrance Exam:
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- Candidates holding a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status are also eligible. PIO refers to foreign citizens who have either held an Indian passport or have parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents born and permanently residing in India. The Government of India introduced the PIO Card Scheme in 1999 to facilitate their return to India.
- Candidates with Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) status can also apply. OCI is an immigration status that grants foreign citizens of Indian origin the right to live and work in India indefinitely.
Note: OCI/PIO cardholders can apply for IAT 2025, provided they meet all other eligibility criteria. They will be eligible to compete for unreserved seats.
IAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit & Academic Qualifications
- Candidates must have passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2022, 2023, or 2025 from a board recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE).
- They must have studied at least three subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
- Minimum Marks Requirement:
- Candidates from SC/ST/PwD categories must have scored at least 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
- Candidates from other categories must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade.
Note: Students from the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), specifically from the Kashmir Division, Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division, and the Union Territory of Ladakh, who appeared for their Class XII (or equivalent) examination in December 2021, are also eligible to apply for IAT 2025, provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.
IISER 2025 Registration
The IISER Entrance Exam Application Form 2025 will be available from March 3, 2025, on the official website. Candidates seeking admission to the BS-MS, BS, or BTech programs must complete the IAT 2025 application form to register.
During the registration process, candidates will need to provide personal details, educational qualifications, exam city preferences, upload the required documents, and pay the IISER registration fee 2025 through their IAT 2025 registered account on the official web portal. The deadline to submit the IAT 2025 application form is April 15, 2025.
How to Apply for IISER 2025 Entrance Exam
Candidates can complete the IISER Entrance Exam 2025 application process online by following these steps:
Step 1: Register on the IISER Admission Portal
Candidates must first register on the IISER Admission 2025 portal at https://iiseradmission.in/. To sign up, they need to provide:

- Personal Details: Name, date of birth, religion, category, disability status, guardian’s name, etc.
- Educational Information: Subject-wise Class 12 marks, board name, etc.

IISER 2025 Exam Pattern
The IISER Entrance Exam 2025 pattern is expected to remain consistent with the previous year’s format. The exam will be conducted as a computer-based test (CBT), and the subject knowledge of applicants will be assessed through multiple-choice questions (MCQs) based on the IISER 2025 syllabus.
A mock test link will soon be available for candidates to practice the exam format and familiarise themselves with the timing and structure of the test. The exam will consist of 60 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) drawn from the specified IISER syllabus 2025.
The marking scheme for the exam was revised last year. The main change made by the exam conducting body was the adjustment in marks awarded for each correct answer. Previously, the exam had a total of 180 marks, but the current maximum score for the examination is now 240 marks.

The syllabus for the IISER 2025 exam will encompass topics from both Class 11th and 12th. It will include the following subjects:

Physics: The syllabus will cover concepts such as Work, Energy and Power, Gravitation, Properties of bulk matter, Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Thermodynamics, Oscillations, Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter, Electromagnetic Induction, and Alternating Current.
Mathematics: Topics will include Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Sets, Relations and Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Sequences and Series, Limits and Derivatives, Mathematical Reasoning, Continuity and Differentiability, Integrals, Applications of Integrals, Statistics, Probability, Matrices, Determinants, Differential Equations, Vectors, and Three-dimensional Geometry.
Biology: The syllabus will encompass Structural organisation in animals and plants, Diversity in the living world, Cell structure and function, Plant physiology, Human physiology, Biology and human welfare, Biotechnology and its application, Reproduction, Genetics, Evolution, Ecology, and Environment.

IISER 2025 Admit Card
The IISER Admit Card 2025 will be available for download from May 15, 2025, on the official website. Registered candidates can download their admit card by entering their registration credentials. The admit card will contain essential details such as the candidate’s personal information, exam date and time, exam center address, as well as important guidelines and instructions for the exam day. It is a mandatory document to be presented at the exam center. The IISER Admit Card 2025 will only be available online, and candidates should retain it until the completion of the counseling or admission process.
Admissions are exclusively through the IAT 2025 Channel. The IAT 2025 Admit Card is a compulsory document for entry to the exam center and must be kept until the admission process concludes. The admit card will include information such as the IAT 2025 shift timings, candidate’s name, exam center details, and other relevant information.

IISER 2025 Result
The IAT 2025 results are expected to be announced in the fourth week of June 2025, as per the examination conducting body, IISER. Candidates can visit the official IISER website, iiseradmission.in, to download their IAT 2025 scorecard. Those selected in the IISER entrance exam will be required to upload the necessary documents to confirm their admission by the second week of July 2025. IISERs offer admission to the BS-MS Dual Degree and BS Degree programs (the latter only at IISER Bhopal). Admissions are granted exclusively through the IAT 2025 channel.
IISER Entrance Exam 2025 Answer Key
The IISER 2025 Entrance Exam Answer Key will be published on May 25, 2025, on the official website. The IAT 2025 Candidate Response Sheet is also expected to be released on the same day, following the successful completion of the exam. Candidates can visit the official website to download their response sheet and assess their performance in the IAT 2025 exam.
The IAT 2025 Provisional Answer Key will allow candidates to estimate their potential score in the entrance exam. If candidates identify any discrepancies, they can raise objections against the provisional answer key. The online objection window will be available soon.
Initially, the provisional answer key will be released, and candidates will have the opportunity to challenge it within the specified timeframe. After considering expert corrections, the final answer key for IAT 2025 will be issued before the announcement of the exam results.
IISER 2025 Counselling Process: Closing Ranks
The IISER 2025 Counselling Process will begin after the successful completion of the examination. Candidates who have appeared for the IAT 2025 and obtained their AIR or Category ranks must register for the IISER 2025 online counselling. The exact dates for the online registration will be announced by the exam authorities after the results are declared.
Following the registration process, the exam officials will release the IAT 2025 seat allotment list based on the candidates’ preferences and rankings.
IISER Cutoff
The IISER 2025 cut off will represent the minimum marks required for admission to any of the seven IISER campuses. The exam authority will release separate cut off marks for candidates applying through various admission channels.
Candidates who meet or exceed the cut off marks will be eligible to participate in the counselling and seat allotment process. The cut off marks can be checked online on the official website.
