VTU Admission 2024

VTU admissions for 2024 are now open for various UG and PG degree programs. Please refer to the section below for the latest updates and news.

The KCET 2024 first round mock seat allotment results will be published on August 7 at 2 PM on the official website, cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea. Candidates can add, alter, rearrange, or delete options between August 9 and 11. The second round allotment results will be announced on August 14.

For B.Tech Lateral Entry admissions, KEA has announced the first round of allotment results on July 22. Candidates must report to the allotted colleges by July 26.

The revised exam dates for Karnataka PGCET 2024 for M.Tech will be announced soon. In the meantime, the MBA/MCA exams are scheduled for August 4.

VTU admissions are based on merit in various national and state-level entrance exams. The university accepts scores from KCET, COMEDK UGET, JEE Main, GATE, Karnataka PGCET, and other exams for different programs.

At the undergraduate level, VTU offers courses such as B.Tech, B.Tech (Lateral), B.Plan, B.Voc, and B.Arch in a range of specialisations. For postgraduate applicants, the university provides programs like M.Tech, M.Arch, MBA, MCA, and MCA (Lateral), covering diverse disciplines.

In the doctoral domain, VTU offers Ph.D. programs in various specialisations. Applicants must have a master’s degree in a related field with at least 55% aggregate marks from a recognised university. VTU conducts its own entrance exam for Ph.D. admissions.

VTU B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.Plan/ B.Voc Admission 2024

VTU offers undergraduate courses including B.Tech, B.Tech (Lateral), B.Plan, and B.Arch across 37 disciplines. The B.Tech, B.Plan, and B.Arch programs have durations of 4 and 5 years, respectively, while the B.Tech (Lateral) program takes 3 years to complete. These courses are available in a regular, campus-based, full-time format. To be eligible, candidates must have completed 10+2 with PCM and achieved a minimum of 45% aggregate marks from a recognised board. Selection for the B.Tech program is based on JEE Main or KCET cutoff percentages, while admission to B.Arch and B.Plan programs requires meeting the cutoff percentile of NATA.

VTU B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.Plan/ B.Voc Eligibility Criteria

B.E/B.Tech (Lateral) Passed a minimum 3-year/2-year (Lateral Entry) Diploma examination with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in any branch of Engineering and Technology. OR Passed a BSc degree from a recognised university with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) and passed 10+2 with Mathematics. OR Passed D.Voc stream in the same or allied sector.
B.Arch Passed 10+2 scheme with at least 50% aggregate marks in PCM and also at least 50% aggregate marks in 10+2. OR Passed Diploma with Mathematics as a mandatory subject with 50%.
B.Plan Passed 2nd PUC/12th standard examination with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC) in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry/Bio-Tech/Biology/Electronics/CS.

VTU B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.Plan Selection Criteria

To be selected for a B.Tech program, students must obtain a valid score in JEE Main, COMEDK-UGET, or KCET and meet or exceed the cutoff percentile set by the university. For admission to the B.Arch or B.Plan programs, students need to secure a qualifying score in NATA.

VTU M.Tech/ M.Arch/ MBA/ MCA Admission 2024

VTU offers postgraduate courses in Management, Architecture, Engineering, and Computer Applications. The programs include MBA, M.Tech, MCA, and M.Arch. The duration of these courses is 2 years, except for the MCA program, which takes 3 years to complete. All programs are available in a full-time, campus-based, regular mode. M.Tech courses are available in 96 specialisations. For M.Tech or M.Arch programs, students must have completed a B.E. or B.Arch in the relevant subjects with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board. For MBA or MCA programs, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board. Selection is based on entrance exam scores, with students required to take exams such as PGCET, GATE, CAT, MAT, KMAT, or XAT.

VTU M.Tech/ M.Arch/ MBA/ MCA Eligibility Criteria

Here are the eligibility criteria for some of the postgraduate courses offered:

M.Tech/M.Arch Candidates must have passed a qualifying examination or an equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority with an aggregate of 50% in all subjects across all years/semesters of the degree examination (45% for SC/ST/Category I candidates) and must have a valid GATE score.
MBA Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent exam from a recognised university with a minimum duration of 3 years and have obtained an aggregate of 50% marks in all subjects, including languages, across all years of the degree exams (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
MCA Candidates must have a BCA/B.Tech degree in CSE or an equivalent degree, OR a B.Sc/B.Com/BA with Mathematics at 10+2 level and Graduation, and must have obtained an aggregate of 50% in all subjects across all years of the degree examination (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).

VTU M.Tech/ M.Arch/ MBA/ MCA Selection Criteria

To be selected for an M.Tech or M.Arch course at VTU, students must appear for the GATE/PGCET entrance exams and obtain a score that exceeds the university’s cutoff percentile. For admission to the MBA program, applicants need to have taken the KMAT/CAT/MAT/XAT exams and achieved a valid score that meets the institute’s cutoff criteria. For the MCA course, candidates must secure a qualifying score in PGCET.

VTU Ph.D. Admission 2024

VTU offers doctoral courses in various specialisations over a span of three years, in a full-time, campus-based, regular mode. To be eligible for a PhD program, students must have secured 55% marks in their postgraduate studies. Selection is based on the VTU Eligibility Test for Research.

VTU Application Process 2024

VTU offers undergraduate programs such as B.Tech, B.Plan, and B.Arch, as well as postgraduate courses including M.Tech, M.Arch, MBA, and MCA. The admissions process varies by course and level of study, with most applications being handled online.

For undergraduate admission at VTU, candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and achieved a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC). Selection for the B.Tech program is based on JEE Main or KCET scores, while admission to B.Arch and B.Plan programs requires meeting the NATA cutoff.

Postgraduate applicants need a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field. Admission to PG programs is determined by scores on national-level entrance exams such as GATE, KMAT, NATA, PGCET, MAT, or CAT. A valid GATE score is required for M.Tech admissions.

For Ph.D. programs, candidates must have a Master’s degree in the related subject with at least 55% aggregate marks. They must also pass the VTU Research Eligibility Test (VTU-RET) to qualify for research-based programs.
