Madras University offers a vast number of courses across undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA/MCA programme and research level programmes. In addition to this, the university also offers Distance Learning programme that candidates can check in the Madras University distance education courses.

The M.Sc programme includes subjects like Advanced Biochemistry, Actuarial Science, Biophysics, Inorganic Chemistry, Geology, Applied Geology, Medical Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Statistics, Nano Science and Nano Technology, Medical Microbiology, Energy & Material Science, Criminology & Criminal Justice Science, Botany, Polymer Chemistry, etc.

The admission to the postgraduate level is done on the basis of subject criteria. The university conducts an entrance examination for the respective subjects and the selection is done on the basis of merit.

For higher-level programmes, Madras University offers M.Phil, MBA, Executive MBA, MCA, M.Lib, M.Sc. and more.

The M.Phil programme is offered in various specialisations including languages, History, Geology, Political Science, Management, Music, Biochemistry, Continuing Education Management. Some of the exceptional subjects are Defence and Strategic Studies, Physical Education and Yoga, Women’s Studies, Education, Endocrinology, Physical Chemistry Zoology, Women’s Studies, International Relations, Islamic Studies, Jaina Studies.

Apart from these, Mathematics, Network System & Information Technology, Philosophy, Public Affairs, and more like these specializations are offered.
