Kashmir University Campus Facilities
Kashmir University was established one year after the independence, in the year 1948, just one year after independence. In 1969, the university further developed into University of Srinagar and University of Jammu, located in the respective places.
It is the largest university that has been attended by students pursuing full-time courses in the state. Kashmir University has many campuses out of which Hazratbal campus is mainly focused.
It is housed in a large area and lies adjacent to Amar Singh Bagh, Mirza Bagh and Naseem Bagh. The campus of the university covers more than 263 acres of land.
Other than that, the university has developed Zakura Campus covering 300 kanals of land and is located near to the Hazratbal Campus. The South Campus Kashmir University is built upon 259 kanals of land at Fatehgarh while the North Campus Kashmir University covers 559 at Delina.
The university provides hostel facility to both students and staff. It has separate hostels for boys and girls. The rooms are availed to the candidates on the basis of first-come-first-served. There are five hostels altogether, for the staffs, for female students, for PG male students and two for male students.
The rooms of the hostel have been provided with all the needful amenities, internet facility, sports area and medical assistance.
The campus also includes a lab with modern equipment and a clean environment. The university has its own library that has a vast collection of books on different streams, languages, research, science, history, and more.
The library of the campuses maintains a very silent environment where candidates can study. On the other hand, it also has a fun corner that filled with sports facilities such as badminton, cricket, basketball and more. Indoor games like chess, board games and carrom are also provided.
Students can also spend their leisure time in the canteen with food. It is well-maintained in terms of hygiene and serves good food to the candidates. Other than that, the campuses also provide medical facilities to the students
