The University Grants Commission (UGC) approved Tripura University is a public/central government university situated in Suryamaninagar, Tripura, India. Tripura University has an administrative staff of 978 members and an academic staff of 1,308 with a total of 7,061 UG, PG and doctoral students.

Admission Process

All the applicants are admitted to the university courses based on the marks scored in the qualifying exam. Candidates need to score above a specified mark in these exams to get admitted to a particular class or discipline.

The qualifying exams include TUET(Tripura University Entrance Test), RET(Research Eligibility Test) etc. Shortlisted candidates need to sit for a personal interview and group discussion round. The final selection of candidates is made based on the qualifying exam score plus the performance in the personal interview or group discussion round.

Campus Facilities 

The Central Library of Tripura University holds a rich collection of 97,500 books and documents alongside a large stock of reports, non-print media along with state-of-art facilities. The Library also has a subscription to around 140 journals (national and international). Tripura University hostel is provided to both boys and girls.

The basic amenities offered to the residents include Reading rooms having reading materials and magazines, common rooms, recreational facilities, newspapers, TV rooms etc.

The boy's hostels have a total of 80 beds while the girls' hostels have 90. The hostel facilities vary according to departments. Tripura University campus also has special arrangements for sports like Football, Volleyball, Cricket, Judo, Table Tennis and Athletics.
