SIT Tumkur Campus Facilities

Library

The library, situated centrally on the SIT Tumkur campus, occupies two independent three-story buildings with a total area of 1851 sq. m. The construction of the library was made possible by a generous donation from Sri T.N. Kempahonnaiah, a philanthropist from Tumkur. The library boasts a collection of 139,350 volumes, comprising 60,670 volumes in the General section, 35,632 volumes in the Book Bank, 14,683 volumes in the SC/ST Book Bank, and 28,367 other volumes. This diverse collection includes reference materials such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, and standards.

Additionally, the library subscribes to 154 technical periodicals, including approximately 6 international ones. It also houses nearly 3,993 back volumes of periodicals.

The library has acquired e-resources as per AICTE requirements, encompassing 27721+ e-books from publishers such as Elsevier (Engineering and Computer Science), Springer, McGraw Hill Education, New Age International, Packt, Taylor & Francis, Mint Books, and IEEE. These e-resources are accessible 24/7 across the SIT Tumkur campus. Additionally, the library holds memberships with well-known libraries in Bangalore, including the British Library, NAL Library, IIMB Library, and CMTI Library, allowing our students and faculty to benefit from the reference services provided by these esteemed institutions.

The Library accommodates 543 users simultaneously, featuring two distinct AC Reading Halls with a capacity of 150 users each. Utilising the WEB-enabled open-source software NewGenLib, the library is fully computerised. The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is accessible throughout the SIT Tumkur campus, enabling users to search for books by author or title.
