Periyar University Scholarships 

Periyar University Scholarships are provided with an objective to encourage the students coming from a humble background to continue higher education. Thus, it has made various endowments in the names of some national leaders, such as Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, Thiru and Rajaji that worth a total of INR 50 lakhs.

The university grants several scholarships to the meritorious students based on the interest earned out of the endowment deposits. By utilising the money, it offers scholarships to the outstanding and meritorious students of the university through the schemes like Kalaingar Research Fellowships for M.Phil and Kalaingar M.Karunanidhi Research Centre scholarship for PhD scholars. 

Apart from that, students are eligible to apply for scholarships provided by the Tamil Nadu government like the post-matric scholarship, minority scholarship, for general and OBC students, for ST and SC students etc. However, the students should meet the prescribed eligibility criteria for being eligible for a specific scholarship.

For instance, the student applying for the post-matric scholarships, their parent’s annual income must be Rs. 1,08,000 per annum, the student applying for the minority scholarship their parent’s annual income must be Rs. 2,00,000 per annum etc. 

Besides, the students applying for these scholarships need to score at least 55% marks in the qualifying exams for general and OBC students and 50% marks in the qualifying exams for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students.

To be eligible for the scholarships, the candidates are required to submit their passport size photograph, parent’s income certificate, attested photocopies of prescribed certificates, domicile certificate, mark sheet of passing class, caste certificate and address proof etc.
