Periyar University is located in Salem in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was established in the year 1997 and founded by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Students seeking admission to all the postgraduate level courses except for MBA and MCA are shortlisted based on the marks obtained in the graduate degree examination.

On the other hand, for admission to the postgraduate level MBA and MCA courses, candidates are required to appear for the TANCET examination. Thus, the Periyar University results and cut off for Postgraduate level courses is declared after the declaration of TANCET scores for the year. 

In order to seek admission to the doctoral level M.Phil and PhD programmes, the university considers marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
