The National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand was established in 2009, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the Parliament Act.

Later on, it was recognised as the Institute of National Importance. It is considered as one of the best emerging engineering colleges among other NITs. The institute has been accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). 

NIT Uttarakhand offers many engineering courses on different academic levels like undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. These courses include B. Tech, M. NIT Uttarakhand Admission Process

All the applicants are admitted to the engineering courses on the basis of the marks scored in the qualifying exam. The B.Tech and NIT Uttarakhand M.Tech applicants have to get certain marks in Joint Entrance Exam Test and Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering, respectively.

The B. Tech applicants have to clear the JEE followed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and the personal interview round. PhD applicants are required to get a certain score in the qualifying exam.
