Karnataka Government declared it as a private aided institute in the year 1959. NIE was the first engineering college commenced in Mysore.

NIE Mysore Course Highlights
On UG level, NIE Mysore offers full-time four-year engineering courses with an NIE Mysore fee structure of INR 1.76 Lakhs.
On PG level, the institute offers full-time two-year engineering courses.

NIE Mysore Admission Process
All the applicants are admitted to the college on the basis of marks scored in qualifying exams. NIE College of Engineering Mysore B.Tech candidates have to get a certain CET or COMEDK score to get admitted to other courses.
Similarly, postgraduate engineering candidates have to clear PGCET exam conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). COMEDK exam result is followed by counselling and interview round. Final selection of the candidates depends on the overall score obtained in the CET or PGCET exam and the interview round.

For admission in full-time M. Tech. course, PGCET score is considered.

NIE Mysore Result and Cut off
After the results of CET and PGCET, the cut off list is prepared. The candidates of the B.Tech and M.Tech have to cross the NIE Mysore cutoff marks to get admission in the course. The cut off list is the deciding factor for the candidates to become a part of the institute.
Candidates who score equal to or more than cut off marks are eligible to take admission in the courses. PhD candidates are required to cross the qualifying exam score in order to become eligible to join the course.
The NIE Institute of Technology Mysore cutoff list is prepared on the basis of the number of participating candidates, their scores in qualifying exam, the difficulty level of the exam and number of seats available in the institute.
