ISSM Chennai Courses Offered
ISSM offers a 2-year regular intensive MBA program that allows students to specialize in fields such as Marketing, Human Resources, and Finance. The school lays a lot emphasis on the overall development of its students along with the development of their academic or professional competencies, and so, it focuses greatly on interactive teaching, professional management as well as close interaction with the industry, such that students are provided with knowledge, training and research opportunities. This program has enabled students to occupy some of the top positions in companies and become great leaders of the future.
The key aspects of the MBA program are as follows:
- MBA Program: The MBA program at ISSM is a Flagship Program that is dedicated to producing world-class business leaders. The program is designed in a manner that the students are provided with an environment that will help them work on their conceptual as well as analytical reasoning skills and would give them an idea of the business scenario. The curriculum focuses on current and emerging matters in management, and also tests that students are capable of working in groups or teams. Some of the main objectives of this program include:
- Help students develop the kind of values and attitude that would be necessary to function efficiently in managerial as well as administrative positions, in business, in the industry, in the public system, and in the government.
- Provide the students with opportunities to develop all the necessary managerial skills
- Provide the students with current and relevant knowledge of the field of management in terms of theory and practice.
- Create individuals that would contribute to national development and would ensure a better quality of life.
Students that join the program would go through 4 semesters of approximately 6 months each, spread out over 2 years, and would be required to appear for 29 theoretical papers and 9 projects. Students are encouraged to take up projects on “Contemporary Concerns” and dissertation work under the faculty’s expert guidance, while guest lecturers supplement regular course work. In terms of the project work, students are required to interact regularly with industry managers, and a graduating student would have completed one major and two mini-projects, along with one summer internship.
In an attempt to provide the students with a 360-degree educational experience that would shape them into leaders of the future, the curriculum includes classroom lectures, case studies, PowerPoint presentations, seminars, group exercises, home assignments, written report presentations, business, and behavioral games, etc. This combination of in and out of classroom education ensures that students not only graduate with the necessary knowledge but are also able to experience the field.
ISSM Eligibility Criteria
The following is the eligibility criteria for those who wish to apply to ISSM:
- Applicants must have graduated from a recognized university of Association of Indian Universities, with a degree in any discipline, and must have scored at least 50% aggregate marks.
- Those in the final year of their bachelor’s or equivalent degree may apply and would be allowed to join only when a provisional certificate is submitted from the institute’s Principal or Registrar, upon being selected, stating that the applicant has completed all requirements and that the results are pending.
- The school expects applicants to possess the following traits:
- Keen learner
- Team player and leadership quality
- Analytical ability
- Intelligence and a general understanding
- Aptitude and attitude
- Willingness and motivation to live up to corporate expectations
- Applicants must have a valid test score in AICTE approved tests such as CAT, MAT, XAT, etc.
- The MET or Management Eligibility Test is a reward for talent for students who secure more than 96% in the TRE and clear the personal interview with remarks of exceeding expectations; they are eligible for complete free education at ISSM.
- Applicants selected would be called for Group Discussion as well as Personal Interview, via Call letters sent through email, courier or post, from January onwards. The following is the criteria for selecting applicants for the same:
- Academic performance in the past
- Quality of the content written in the application form
- Work experience (job content as well as organization)
- Extra-curricular activities, interests, and accomplishments
- Entrance exam scores if not taken an aptitude test with the school
- Group Discussion and Personal Interview performance (final admission)
- It must be kept in mind that high scores in the entrance exams do not guarantee a call for the GD/PI or for an admission offer.
