Eligibility Criteria for CAT 2024

As per the official notification issued for CAT 2024, candidates must meet the below-mentioned criteria to be eligible for appearing in CAT 2024.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized Institute or university with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA is required to apply for the test.
  • The candidates belonging to the categories of SC / ST or PwD must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution or university with a minimum of 45% marks or equivalent CGPA. Also, the students studying in the last year of their Bachelor’s Degree program are eligible to apply for the same.
  • Professional degree holders like CA / CS / ICWA are also eligible to apply for the Common Aptitude Test.

Age Limit for CAT 2024 Exam

There are no age restrictions for taking the CAT exam. It is accessible to recent graduates and employed individuals alike. With over 1300 B-schools in India accepting CAT scores for their full-time, executive MBA, or online professional programs, many working professionals opt for CAT to pursue such courses. CAT scores are recognized by IIMs for full-time MBA, executive MBA, and FPM programs. Additionally, leading MBA colleges in India consider CAT scores to shortlist candidates for executive MBA or part-time MBA programs. The minimum age requirement is 20 years due to the prerequisite of having a bachelor’s degree for CAT eligibility. Candidates who have completed their graduation with at least 50 percent aggregate (45 percent for SC/ST candidates), those in the final year of their bachelor’s degree program, or those holding professional degrees like CA/CS/ICWAI with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate are eligible to appear for the CAT exam.
