Fine I do agreeeee. But ... Can some one justify the 250 WLs ... Come on yaar ! its so stupid ! 250 WL for 120 seats ! XL is not all that bad !

i donno wt effect it might have on others
but let me try to put things in perspective
last yr i had 64th wl in xl bm course
it moved up and up but.........
i do not have any formal proof but i was in contact with the admission staff and at the last moment my wl moved till 1 and died there
so this was the scene last yr
for this yr i predict that it wont move even that much b'coz just look at the ppl who got calls from xl and who converted it
very few wud also be having iim calls
and nobody leaves xl for colleges apart from A,B,C and probably FMS & maybe MDI & SPJ
well this is my guess
i m not trying to demotivate anybody
buts its better to be in terms with reality
just for everybody's info i did not join any college last yr
i wrote exams dis yr also but all wasted

hey ! i dont know if u are one of the final call getters/ WLers ...... But stilll, I guess this year may have many more movement in the WLs when compared with the previous years !
This is no way a ruf speculation....Wait and watch ! Many WLers are gonna be XLers ( meeeee toooooo !!)
hi all. this is my speculation abt wl movement. it will definitely move more than it did last year. i gave CAT and XAT last year and this my observation. generally people who do well in CAT also crack XAT . but last year, huge number of people who did well in first CAT (nov 23) and subsequently did well in XAT were stumped in the Repeat cat (feb 15).
trust me an entirley differnt bunch of people got in to iims than what would have been if the cat was not cancelled. very few people did well both the times. ( i am one of the losers last year). so that meant the remaining people, who had other calls had to settle for other calls. like fms and xl etc. what this meant is that there was very small scope for wl to clear. so moral of the story is there would be more movement in the list this year. we already have BM list moving up by 2 people. . no wonder i scored well in logical reasoning this year!
guys in XLRI said that the WL is really long and it wud be around 250 ... I just now called up XLRI admissions office and they say only 100 WL is been given !can some XL senior confirm this !!

so i think there are many variable which come into play wen waitlist clearance is concerned . normallly if we conider that 5 to 10 % junta which rites mba exams qualifiy for all bigies ( a,b,c ,xl ,fms and others) it wd b arnd 75 to 100 ( considering total seats in iims (1200) as base)
now xl being rated higher than iim i and k or may b l for sum me think wl shd move in vicinity of 50 or so , n that look a resonable figure.

no dout dat this yrs xat n cat were pretty same in structure n hence more overlap is expected .....but i still feel dat ther r more variables which decide the number game in waitlist saga.( also xl is more subjective in its selection, so overlap may b few dis yr)........... i hope dat the no shd tuch 60+ so dat one of my dear fren is thru

hey CEO, i overlooked the FMS waitlist info . yes, there was record movement in last year FMS waitlist, as one of my friends told me. so that might mean excatly opposite to waht i said previoesly. ie. all the people who did well in the FMS and XL exams then went on to crack CAT also on feb 15 2004. so there might be good amt of overlap as in any year. so this year the numbers shouldnt be much different. still counting for a few people who converted fms and xl last year but lost out on cat, which is less likely this year, all in all the wl should be same or more but not less. the point that xat was similar to cat and lots of overlap possible there also. anyway, i am out of XL for sure. ATB. bye.

last year the wait list moved on till 56. and the year before, it went on to the mid 40s.
This is the stat for BM. I think ppl who have WL better than 40 can chill... You guys shud get ur call letters shortly.
Ppl may take solace in the fact that XL & CAT papers were largely similar, so the clashes may be larger... but there isnt any sure shot way to any specific conclusion.
The waitlisters i guess have to wait till april end... thats the time the institute schedules to receive the confirmation drafts from the confirmed call getters. After that as and when the WL proceeds, the subsequent wait listers are called.
The whole process shud be over by May end.
As far as the WL goin on till 250, thats a sham. Realistically speaking, after WL 40 or may be 50, the ticket window shud close anytime.

Yup ! usually there used to be 120 WLs ... But this time XL senior told me that there is 250 WLs ... This is really fishy ! Can some One clarify if there are so many WLs ...:)
