1. 17 ans
use a+d, a a-d
a=15
d= 2
so series is 17, 15,13
2. g.p

7^1/p, 7^2/q, 7^4/r

A man receives pension of rs. 100 for 1st year. each year he receives 90 % of what he received previous year . find the max total amount he can receive even if he lives for ever??

a. 1100
b,900
c,2000
d.1000

Max P = 100 + (9/10)*100 + (9/10)^2 * 100 ....

= 100[ 1 + (9/10) + (9/10)^2 + ...]
100 [ 1/ ( 1 - 9/10) ] Infinite GP a/1-r formula

Check the above link ..625 = 5^4

but don't you think we have to subtract one case in which he orders nothing (which is zero).bcoz in question it is asked to find no. of ways to " place an order".

See 1st boy can place order in 1,2,3,4 or 0 ways so 4 boys

so for every such way the oters can also place in 5 ways so 5*5*5*5

yes it si mentioned that "All the four may also leave without eating anything. " we are also considering it as an case when each select '0 '.

Ques 1: According to a recent survey report issued by the Commerce Ministry, Government of India, 30% of the total FDI goes to Gujarat and 20% of this goes to rural areas. If the FDI in Gujarat,which goes to urban areas, is $72 m, then find the size of FDI in rural Andhra Pradesh, which attracts 50% of the FDI that comes to Andhra Pradesh, which accounts for 20% of the total FDI ?
(a) $30 m (b) $ 9 m (c) $60 m (d) $40 m (e) None of these

Ques 2: If in que 1 , the growth in the size of FDI for the next year with respect to the previous year is 20%, then find the share of urban Maharashtra next year if 12% of the total FDI going to Maharashtra went to urban areas (provided Maharashtra attracted only 10% of the total share for both years).
(a) $36 m (b) $4.32 m (c) $3 m (d) $5 m (e) None of thesec

Ques 3: If the length,breadth and height of a cube are decreased, decreased and increased by 5%,5% and 20% respectively, then what will be the impact on the surface area of the cube(in percentage terms) ?
(a) 7.25% (b) 5% (c) 8.33% (d) 6.0833% (e) 8.5%

Ques 4: the hourly wages of a female labour are increased by 12.5% , whereas the weekly working hours are reduced by 8%. Find the percentage cahnge in the weekly wages if she was getting Rs. 1200 per week for 50 hours previously.
(a) +3.5% (b) 4% (c) 4.5% (d) none

Ques 5: The salary of a person is increased by Rs. 4800 and the rate of tax is decreased by 2% from 12% to 10% . The effect is such that he is now paying the same tax as before. If in both cases, the standard tax deduction is fixed at 20% of the total income, find the increased salary..??
(a) Rs. 32,800 (b) Rs. 36,800 (c) Rs. 28,000 (d) none of these

Ques 6: A and B have, in between, Rs. 1200. A spends 12% of his money while B spends 20% of his money. They are then left with a sum that constitutes 85% of the whole sum. Find what amount is left with A.??
(a) Rs. 750 (b) Rs. 800 (c) Rs. 700 (d) Rs. 660 (e) Rs. 880

Ques 7: Due to a 25% hike in price of rice per kilogram, a person is able to purchase 20kg less for Rs.400. Find the increased price of rice per kilogram..??
(a) 250 (b) 240 (c) 200 (d) cannot be determined

Ques 8: The weight of an iron bucket increases by 33.33% when filled with water to 50% of its capacity. Which of these may be 50% of the weight of the bucket when it is filled with water (assume the weight of bucket and its capacity in kg to be integers)..??
(a) 7 kg (b) 6 kg (c) 5 kg (d) 8 kg

is there anyone who can help me in solving these questions.....????

1. 80% of Gujarat FDI goes to Urban areas = 72m
100%---100/80X72=90m
90m is 30% of Total FDI
20% FDI---20/30X90=60m
50% of 60m=30m
(a) $30m

2. New FDI=1.2XOld FDI
30%---90m
100%---100/30X90=300m
New FDI=360m
10%=36m
12/100X36=
(b ) $4.32m

3. Let the sides be 100
Old surface area=100X100X6
New surface area=(95X95+95X120+120X95)X2
=95X2X(95+120+120)
=95X2X(335)

New/Old=95X2X335/100X100X6
=1.06083
Change=6.083%

4. Old wage per hour = 1200/50=24
New wage per hour = 24 + 1/8X24=27
New working hours=50-8/100X50=46
Weekly wage=46X27=1242
Change=42
%Change=42/1200X100==3.5%

5. Didn't get the question.
Let salary = x
12% of x=10% of (x+4800)
12x=10x+48000
2x=48000
x=24000
What is standard tax deduction?

6.A+B=1200
88/100*A+80/100XB=85/100(A+B)
88A+80B=85A+85B
3A=5B
A:B=5:3
A=5/8X1200=750
88/100X750
=22X30=660
(d) Rs. 660

7.Let price = p
Quantity=w
pw=400
1.25pX(w-20)=400=pw
1.25pw-25p=pw
pw=100p
P=Rs.4
Increased price=Rs.5
Cannot be options as if we put least option 200 we get
w=2kg
So reducing 20kg we get -18kg so Not possible.

8. Let weight of bucket=x
Weight off 50% water (1/3)*x
Weight of 100% water (2/3)x
New weight = (2/3+1)x=(5/3)x
Half the weight is (5/6)x
If the answer is to be in integer(not the bucket) x will have to be a multiple of if we put x=6 we get 5kg.
Next value is 10kg which is not in the option so
(c) 5kg
