What are your views on Private Equity & hedge funds in India ?

Here r some of my views (& questions)

For the P.E.

Macro-part -> P.E. is growing in value. Government regulations & cap-sizing's are dwindling back & forth (Gov. is confused)

On the micro & personal part,what I hear is that, compensation is very low compared to china, Europe, Wall street, Canada even though you still have the sleepless work hours; and only the shitty deals and Back Office work are given to Indians. Only ppl from IIM-A get recruited...

BTW. Some of the freshers from wharton got around 300,000 $ total comp. right outta college even in the recession, In europe deusche bank pays competitively against american rates. Idk what the comp. is like in India ?

For Hedge funds-

Never heard of any prominent HF manages or Funds in India. (could someone enlighten me on the situation)

Top Quant traders comp. > top P.E in Wall street; but unlike PE, income is super-susceptible to market performance.
