Need some insight on how does manage finances in this 4-5 year long program.. Surviving on only Rs. 25,000 - 30,000 may be a challenge esp. for married couples.. So, would like to know (esp. from current students) the thoughts and practicalities over surviving financially in any FPM/Ph.D program.. Replies awaited 😃

Though presently no such ranking is available but its a common perception that research quality/ paper published by a Institute may be a fair criteria for selecting a institute for FPM/Ph.D. It will be interesting to know about ranking on this criteria. Dear Fellow Puys as I went thru the new threads I felt I should clarify a couple of things. Yes the tests are important but every institute worth its salt looks at the overall profile by which I mean they do look at your SOP, CV, Recos etc. I spoke to a few of my batchmates and they were asked questions from their reco as well during the interview. What it means is that look now how you can hit each aspect of the admission process and then move forward

I am currently doing MBA from IIT Roorkee with Finance & Marketing. Please suggest me good PhD institutes. I plan to do my research which would be quantitative in nature (most likely related to Marketing but could be interdisciplinary as well. I am currently working on the topic.
On a side note, how are the IIT doctorate programs? Which IIT is better for above mentioned area? Feel free to suggest other schools (I know about IIMs).

Can someone please tell me as to which all IIMs provide accommodation for family to married candidates for the FPM programme? And, also if the accommodation is free?
Why does one do a FPM/PhD? is it because of one's research orientation or for the fact that he/she loves to teach the particular subject? I generally want to know the peoples opinion here as I am in the same boat as of you guys and not able to decide whether I am here for my love of teaching or for the research.
