[Official] Schulich MBA in India - Admission Query thread

hey people,

i need help. I am intending to pay $2500 deposit. The problem is I do not have credit card. Can i provide authorization of some one else's credit card.

Please reply soon people....

I hope yes ,
You can do it coz there is no mention of the fact you need to use your own CC.

So, you should be able to do this without any issues.

But still, email Charmaine, it should be done this way.

When I paid my fees, I used a credit card, so first time I paid I informed Amanda that I was paying there is a form that you need to fill up, then I paid 90000 INR then once Amanda confirmed receipt off the first part. I reloaded my card again, paid the rest and Amanda confirmed receipt of the second half. Please write to Amanda and make sure that she is aware of the fact that you are paying in parts and Amanda's office is quick to reply.

Hi,

I have couple of queries about the India-Schulich MBA program,

1. Please share the % of international candidates in the 1st yr of the India-Schulich MBA program.

2. What will be the class profile in the 2nd yr? Will the India-Schulich MBA students be merged with the new/existing students in Schulich Toronto campus to form the 2nd yr class?

3. What are the available fee payment options?

4. Are there any university loans available to int'l candidates?

Hi,

Till now we have only had students of Indian origin, but many of us have worked abroad in USA, UK, Australia

Yes, students would be merged with the Schulich Toronto batch in second year.

Thanks for sharing the details,

Regarding point-1, I feel that work exposure and cultural background are two different aspects. This parameter could be one of the major differentiating factors between the India and Toronto programs. Could you please share the class profile of this program? Last year's data would suffice the purpose. I could not find the same on the respective website.

Regarding point-2, so it seems that a parallel batch is started in Jan in Toronto campus? And by Aug, India n students are merged with this batch. Please rectify if my interpretation is incorrect.

Regarding point-3, I would be grateful if you could share some link where I could locate the installment terms available to fund the program.

Is the reduction of 15k CAD in the program fees for the 1st and 2nd terms (MBA 1) considered scholarship from the university for all the candidates in this program? Can a candidate expect the entrance scholarships apart from the 15k CAD relaxation which students get in the tuition fee of MBA 1. Please advise.

Also, I would appreciate if you could throw some light about how students are evaluated for GLP. On what parameters are the India and Toronto students gauged for their eligibility for GLP which is conducted in terms 3 and 4 with a merged class.

92% of the class were engineers and 100% of the class are of Indian origin. No international students admitted.

Yes you are right

Please write to Amanda Barnes, [email protected]. I do not think the installment terms are available online.

Again, please include this question as well to Amanda. Reason been it keeps changing, when you are extended an offer the school will mention in your letter. However I can speak for myself, when I applied i recieved the reduction of 15k.

Regarding entrance scholarship, Amanda Barnes is best qualified again.

Well, last year 3 students from Schulich India were part of the GLP, this year too i believe we have presence.

Please feel free to write to
[email protected][email protected] for more info.

Lots of questions...
With reference to the fee structure... Students in India receive a fellowship directed at their tuition in year one. In addition there are some students who receive second year scholarships as part of the offer based on excellence.. In addition... students who complete year one and perform with academic merit are reviewed in the total pool of second year students for scholarships highlighted on the Schulich Web site in the financial brochure...

With reference to the GLP... candidates are selected by interview from both campuses.

with reference to who you study with when you arrive in Toronto... you will be fully integrated into the second year with all second year students. these include full time students and part time students. Some began the program in September 2011, some in January 2012 in Toronto and part timers who have finished the first 30 credits (1st year)

To get more information on the payment schedule I would suggest that you contact our Financial Aid Associate Director at [email protected]. She can lay out the way students make payments over the four semesters.

The cohort we are building in Mumbai is carefully selected to create a mix of backgrounds and skill sets.
Students come together from different industries and job functions. All students in this cohort are required by the terms of the twinning program to be Indian Citizens.. many have had international experience. These students come from all corners of the country.
The average age is somewhere around 28.

There is a diversity in the class composition that we build on first in India and then when the students are resettled in Toronto in August and integrated totally into the larger student body.

I hope all these answers are helpful to you.

Thanks Charmaine and Mark for quick responses.
I appreciate this gesture.

I would be grateful if you could address the following queries-
1. Since the Schulich faculties would be travelling to India to conduct the respective sessions, would the faculties be staying in the India campus? I mean how approachable these faculties would be to the students outside classroom?

2. Are the clubs operating in the India program linked with their counterparts in Toronto? If yes, then how frequent do they interact especially in the 1st year of the program? Is the student contribution towards these clubs expected in the 2nd year?

3. How frequent do students in the India campus (1st year) get opportunity to interact with int'l recruiters and alumni? Does CDC, Toronto starts working with individual students from day one of the program in India? I think there would be an On-campus recruitment fair conducted in the month of Sep'12, the start of the 3rd term. Early preparation of students would be helpful to maximize the benefits.

4. I am planning to visit the India campus in coming days. Would have appreciated if few snaps of the On-campus accommodation were posted on the website.

They are very approachable, we love them all for how approachable they are

2. Are the clubs operating in the India program linked with their counterparts in Toronto? If yes, then how frequent do they interact especially in the 1st year of the program? Is the student contribution towards these clubs expected in the 2nd year?

No the club are not linked to Toronto and when you come to Toronto you can be a member of any of the club out here

Club Listing | Graduate Business Council

Thanks for the advice will pass it on to CDC, Yes, CDC works with each student in India. Regarding interacton with recruiters the american market works differently so once you come here CDC will take you through. Regarding alumni, you are assigned a mentor who is an alumni.

4. I am planning to visit the India campus in coming days. Would have appreciated if few snaps of the On-campus accommodation were posted on the website.

Do me a favor, send me an email at [email protected] and I will send you some pictures of the campus. Else you are anyways visiting the campus, so Imran will definately show you the campus.

Hope this answers your questions

Mark

Thanks Mark for addressing my queries.

Hi,

I am planning to pay the confirmation deposit of 2500 CAD through cheque from an India Bank a/c.
From the shared document for confirmation deposit it seems that the Int'l candidates not paying through credit card need to draw a draft made out in Canadian funds drawn from a Canadian affiliated bank.

Please share the list of Canadian affiliated banks in India through which I can withdraw a draft of 2500 CAD.

I would like to know whether the draft is to be couriered along with the Admission Confirmation Form to York University.

I do not think you need to make a DD from a Canadian affliated bankm however I suggest you speak to Imran or email Amanda Barnes at [email protected].

Also touch base with your friends on our facebook page for your batch, your batchmates will suggest you options on which bank offers the cheapest DD rates as well.

Hope this helps

Greetings to all, The Schulich in India cohort has not been selected.... We will start this class in Mumbai in January. I am delighted with the response from Indian Candidates.

Hi Mark/Charmaine

I am looking to apply for the Schulich India MBA starting Jan 2013. Is the application portal open for applications for the 2013 intake?

Also, could you please give me an estimate of the total expenses (tuition fee + avg living expense) for this program?

Thanks and happy holidays!!

Hi Nitin,

We will not be having a 2013 intake in India, as our campus in Hyderabad will be ready and we will start offering the 2 year Schulich MBA program in Hyderabad. Students will then have an option to complete both years in India or 1 year in India and 1 year in Toronto, or 2 years in India. Students at the Toronto campus will be given the same option, which will significantly increase the diversity in the classroom.

Please feel free to get in touch with me at [email protected] if you have any further questions.
