Hey puys... plz suggest some good institutes for pursuing MBA (FAMILY BUSINESS)....!!!! 
i also want to pursue mba in family business. here is the list of colleges that i know are good:
-S.P.JAIN, mumbai( 7 days in college, rest of the month in your own company)
-Welingkar,mumbai(12 days in college, rest of the month in your own company) . 2 yrs work ex in your own company required
-NMIMS,mumbai(full time course)
-Nirma,ahmedabad(full time course)
-EDI, ahmedabad(dont know much abt it)
Forms of sp jain are available. For other it may be start in april. check their websites for more detais..also pm me or post here if you find any other institute...

Thanks for the reply.. i checked the SPJain site.. understood that one can apply for FMB any time.. and the application will be considered for future intakes if not taken immediately.. looks like there will a test on Web study material and General Aptitude.. Do you have any idea how the tests will be?.. will it be like CAT/XAT pattern?...
i have applied for sp jain for sept intake..their exams are supposed to be around in june..dont know much abt their pattern but it would be MCQ. you also have give company presentation..and exams are much easier compared to CAT for sure..

I think you missed out for FMB 2010. Last date was 10th may.:-( And can u tell me what is sbm? anyways chk this website:

And regarding course pattern it is bit focused on how to develop or manage your business rather than taking a job. Also they dont offer any placements.

IIM-B offers 1 year course in family business and entrepreneurship in february. One has to attend college for 5 days in a month. Admission form should be submitted by decemeber. Check out their website or visit institute for more details.
Similar format is also offered by sp jain or welingkar in mumbai. Travelling once a month shouldn't be a problem!!

it does not matter whether you have proprietorship or public,pvt limited company. But you should make a point to them that you are really looking forward for growth in the your business..

your experience in uncle's business does count if you want to continue with that. Your uncle has to take your responsibility in funding the course.
And sorry, but I haven't heard of IIMA family business course.. It would be great I guess..
See, if you are really interested in doing management course, then its a very good career option to build up your networks that can help your career as well as business. To join a good institute is really mandatory. If you want to do the course along with working you must opt for executive MBA. A no. of reputed colleges like IIMs, IITs, IIFT, XLRI, MICA, MIT, INSEAD etc. provide these courses. Further, these institutes are associated with some other organization such as Hughesnet Global Education, which organizes studies in their own campus and through two-way video conferencing. I find this really this process of education effective and interesting.
