it would be great if the seniors could throw some light on the placement scenario here, so that future aspirants can have some comfort....i surely believe it would at least be decent considering it is a top NIT.....i have one family member who has got through and is anxious abt the scenario at the college bcoz of lack of info..
plz reply some of the seniors...a lot of anxious people are waiting for ur replies.....1 of them in my own family
believe me nit surathkal is best for engg ....but for mba its not worth....no env like a b school....not enough facilities and they dnt call executives from companies .....companies prefer to take engg students rather than mba and env is not ideal for mba..its better to go for mba college thn to go for nit....they dnt meet the standards of an mba college and faculty is not up to the mark....in short managers are not produced there.....its quite waste to study mba there

hi ppl... this is shyam.. okay letme put up this way... NITK is one of the finest institutes in india.. and to be frank.. no college offers mediocre courses n worst faculty with that kinda reputation n brand name..
and abt course... it offers dual degree course.. and first sem is general MBA n second n third wud be Specialisation.. and 4th is for sole sake of Major Project..
and placements.. yes it's bit low when compared to others colleges of the same percentile range.. since it is a newbie to B school scenario.. and not much students n corporates are aware of What NITK students are... and it has shown tremendous improvement compared to any other B school within 3 years of time..
and to your note
Placement is something regarded to what Students are... not based on institution.. when yo feel yo are really worth for a job, and make up your profile to companies match.. yo place your own stake..
Am not doing an brush up or marketing stuff for NITK..
i have just got into NITK admission...
to your Note.. i preferred NITK among fine institutes which i got in...
and it's upto yo to decide further
Regards
Shyam Sundar ( 11 - 13 ) NITK

Hi Sam_17
can u plz let us know regarding last yr cat cut off for gd nd pi...
i scored 76.87%ile in cat. can i expect a call.
Hi Mandeep Dalal
The cutoff is 70 percentile overall in CAT. The weightage for CAT score is 90% while the rest is alloted for GD/PI.
The placement prospects are decent; 8 members of the 2010-2012 batch got placed at Coal India Limited with a salary of 8.8 Lakhs; 1 got into Flakt Woods with a salary of 6 lakhs and this is just the beginning. Many more firms like ACC and Syndicate Bank are scheduled to visit soon.
The total fee structure would amount to about INR 1.6 lakhs for the entire course.
For those who are apprehensive about the quality of MBA @ NITK, the faculty are top-grade and include faculties from IIMs and IITs. Also the strategic plan created by faculty from NITK MBA has been recognised by the MHRD as being one of the best. The students and faculty are very outgoing and actively participate in various management fests and paper presentations; NITK MBA has really made a name for itself as a top contender in every event it has participated in. Top executives from globally recognized firms like Deloitte India, Magnum Intergrafiks, Karle International and others have delivered guest lectures on management topics to the students.
Last, but not the least, is the MOU that has been signed between NITK Surathkal Dept of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management (MBA) and Haute Ecole d'Ingenierie et de Gestion du Canton de Vaud (HEIG-VD), which is a reputed Engineering and Management College situated in Lausanne, Switzerland. Under the MOU, SUMMER UNIVERSITY program is conducted every year which is a student and faculty exchange program conducted for a period of 3 weeks. Select students are thus exposed to a different culture, management and ways of life and thus get a headstart in their careers.
Hope this thread answers your queries. Please feel free to ask us more about the institute.
Signing off
Sourabh Jain, 2012 MBA - Human Resources and Operations Management; participant at Summer University 2011 at Lausanne, Switzerland.
why don't you guys call big corporates. since you said many IIT and IIM faculty constitutes mba faculty
then why is it that so few companies visit NITk's campus
i am an nitk aspirant but the placements are something which have got me worried.
