hey guys, the exams are over and we are here to answer your queries.
Firstly the cutoffs last year were on avg 63+ due to the large number of applicants. You could soon interact with few of my batchmates in other cities as they would be coming there to give you some idea of the life in SIIB first hand on request from some of the institutes. Those in Cochin can contact me at 0484 2403386(preferably after 7 pm) or 09860382240.I will be visiting the various institutes here.
We have just finished various events like the HK Firodia memorial series about HR practices and the Leadership series at JW Marriott,Mumbai in which many eminent senior professionals of the industry including Mr AK Purwar, Mr Kalayan Sundaram of GSK and Mr Richard Rushton, MD SABMiller India.
Anyways thats all for now. any queries .Just shoot!!!
hey guys how are the vacation going...and what about the PR thing???
Somewhere i have heard SIIB prefers ppl with Engineering background..
Can some one from SIIB Clear this. What abt PPl wid @2 yrs of wor x in top notch IT compnay....
Coz i kon ppl last year Getting Cals from SCMHRD at 59.25 points.
Can anyone give the placement details of SIIB, about average salaries and all that Information.
hi anees
as far as preferance for engineers is concerned i don't think that there is any. although majority of students here are engineers but that is more or less due to the fact that most of the aspirants are also engineers. otherwise i don't think so that there is any preference for engineers.
i am myself a commerce student.
as far as work x is concened u definitely have an edge. SIIB do prefer candidates with more than 1 year of work x.
regarding your query about the cut offs.
yes, cut off for SCMHRD is lower comparitively coz, they have a larger intake of students as compared to SIIB.
as far as placements are concerned we have the best of companies visiting our campus.
don't worry abt the placements. once u are in u can be assured of good placements. the director personally handles the placements.
for details u can check the site www.siib.ac.in
B.T.W. I will be in Delhi from Nov. 1 to 8 if anyone wants to contact me then most welcome. my no. is 011-30973895
and ya average placement figures are something around 4.5 dont exactly remember...

I presonally think it is a good Colg....

hi to everyone on this forum
i came to know that majority of international business is related to the import
export and nothing new.......is that true? is that only related to the WTO,Exim
policies, shipping and logistics? Is it really international business in a true sense? How the course at SIIB would help? Does it provide excellent course
and opportunity to be really global businessman in this globaliation arena?
Please throw some light on my Q
please reply
Thanks in advance
hi anees
although the Institute has is own criteria to give calls which is not disclosed to the students but still it can be safely said that a good work x definitely raises your chances of making it.
as far as cut offs are concerned they are more or less around the figure which Vivek mentioned but are a little lower for industry sponsored candidates.
Vivek has mentioned the fig. of 63 just to give u an idea & it may not be 100% accurate as no one knows the exact fig.
Well well..i do see a lot of queries in all u guys minds especially umd2020 ,anees and doshik.
First of all let me clarify that the score of 63+ is an average for last year. This year the cutoff will change with the difficulty level of the question papers. Also the cutoffs will be lower for people with work ex as work ex has a weightage in the selection procedure. We have students with excellent work ex of 3+ years in L &T;, GE Money, Mahindra & Mahindra, Voltas International ,Nestle(Agri business)..besides others with 1-3 years work ex in various others companies like Caritor(Now you know how your chances are anees)among others.
Next coming to the question about what does International Business(IB) contain besides EXIM,shipping and logistics? and my answer is everything else. Our course curriculum is designed in a way that we have an international aspect to every subject we learn.Whether that be in International finance and international finance markets,Overseas Market research as a separate subject after doing a paper on Applied Market Reseach(We rightly believe we have the best faculty for this subject in the country including the IIMs...You will know once u join)...Also remember Supply chain Management does not only mean logistics.Logistics is just a part of SCM and as India still has to develop World class SCM standards the entire SCM is taught on international basis. Marketing naturally has a mixed bag of both International and domestic case studies with a separate subject of International Marketing in Sem 2 along with a subject of International Economics..All these details are also given on the website www.siib.ac.in under the courses topic.
Thirdly coming to placements like mentioned earlier we obviously have 100% placements(Yeah like anyone bothers about that line any more )Coming to the real figures of placements we have an average placements figure of 4.8 lakhs with a median of 4.2...Now thats what interest you guys more i know...Anyways the exact break up of the placements and salaries is given on the website again....
So i hope i have satisfied your appetites for now atleast. au revoir, adios, auf wiedersehen, still don't know the chinese version of it.lol(btw thats an aspect of international business too ..4 foreign languages ot choose from )
hey all sleeping beauties...wake up....what you all gone in hibernation or what........so who all is coming on 7th itself....
