Hi AllWelcome to SDMIMD with me Surabhi. I would like u all to get a glimpse of the life here before joining the institute. Our day starts at 6am with the yoga classes. The classes extend from 9:30 in the morning to 6 in the evening and if u r lucky then u may have a guest lecture after that, the extent of which depends entirely on the speaker. Thereafter the group assignments, presentations, self study (coz surprise tests are always there to stun u especially when u are not prepared with the subject) but when u are free with all that, then a stroll around the campus with ur gang makes u forget all ur worries and tensions. Drinking tea at 12 midnight, being awake till early mornings to complete assignments just a day before the submission and rainbows after the anytime rains add a tinge of lemon to the otherwise tasteless water so as to make it a lemonade. Regarding the events that take place here at SDMIMD I wud like u all to know that we recently conducted a Global OD Summit which was attended by great OD practitioners from all over the world be it America, UK or Australia. From India the leading names that attended the summit were Mr. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and managing director TVS Motor Co. and Mr. Mohandas Pai, earlier CFO now Head HR of Infosys.The events that are in the pipeline are Naissance, Asian Management Fest and Brand fair.What else shall I say? I have some queries and would like to get ur take on em.
A little abt me, a comp science gra and have 2 yrs exp with an IT Company.
Now the queries:smile:
1. Is SDM good enough collage for exp PPl?
2. What is the actuall highest and lowest pakage offered at SDM. Also how many landed with a package of 5.5 above?
3. What is the scene in System Placements ( Highst ,lowst pakg)
4. What is the best Role offered and i suppose Infy too had come down for Placements for BA role??
5. What is the cutoff percentile for getting a call at SDM , I heard it is as low ass 60 Percentile...Is that true??
6. How is the Learning process at SDM....? How will u rate it?
I m sure u will understand my apprehensions as u too might have gone thru all this last year.
I want to apply to collages at each level and frankly telling i want to keep SDM and XIME as backup options.....( How would u rate XIME as compared to SDM if u have any idea abt that collage)
Looking forward to reply....and based on u r feedback only will decide if i need to shed 1150 for SDM application:smile:

Here are my answers for the queries posted by u?
1. Yes of course this year the placements have already started and the persons with two years work ex have got a package of 8.5 lacs. We also have many computer science engineers from IIITs and NITs.
2.Till now 35 students have been placed before the commencement of the placement week( placements willl start from Nov.1st). The highest sals is 8.5 and lowest being 6.5 which is fruther being negotiated. Right now we cannot disclose the actual figure but soon i will send u the info regarding that. It is more probable that the sals wud increase.
3. There are plenty of companies for systems specialisation like Infosys, TCS, Polaris Oracle and many more and they give pretty high package. As to my knowledge none of my seniors have taken hardcore systems specialisation but they had taken finance and systems and marketing and systems and landed up with a good profile job as a business analyst.
4. Till now the companies which have come to our campus have offered a profile of business analyst, associate consultants, management trainee and senior engineers.
5. It is expected to be between 80 to 85 percentile , In my batch a person with a four years experience was admitted at a percentile of 70 and u can cross check these figures with the AICTE report that u will get with the application form of the college.
6. The standards of my college are pretty strict when it comes to studies and 4 students from the senior batch were expelled from the college on account of non performance and one student from my batch has already been expelled just after the first term for non performance. Some of our permanent faculty are visiting faculty of IIMB and IIMK.
The decision is solely yours when it comes to joining an institute but I wud say that SDM is one of the best college in the country and this I am saying out of my personal experience here.

SDMIMD is SDM Institute for Management Development. It is one of the institutes run by Sri Dharmasthala Trust. And if I explain the college in just one line it wud be: it is a college that created history when one of the big companies of mysore picked up 29 students from here at one shot with a package of 8.5 lacs. The package is still being negotiated.
I think now u know exactly what SDMIMD is?

2. Waht's the mode of admission? CAT/XAT or your own test?

iam currently doing my p.g. in life sciences.. keen on pursuing my MBA.
got a call from Alliance Business Academy and the likes of that through septMAT. But the tuition fee they charge is way too high ..
iam not the excellent kinds .. but then iam not that bad either .. i got 88 percentile in MAT.. dnt knw wat to expect frm CAT06???

I am Abhishek Goyal, a first year student at SDM IMD. Its really nice to see SDMIMD thread on pagalguy and i think its a good platform for SDMities and all the CAT aspirants to share their experience. lemme first begin with what is SDM IMD. It is located in the heritage city Mysore. SDM Institute for Management Development, (SDM-IMD) Mysore has carved a niche as the pioneer of management teaching practices. SDM-IMD possesses more than a decade of experience in setting the standards of Management education.
Rite now we have an intake of 120 students in PGDBA program.
There is no reservation and admissions are through CAT only.
For the 2007-09 batch the tution fee(including every thing) for 2 years is 3.6 lacs.

Till now around 50 students has been placed in a batch of 114 and even our placement week has not been started. Till now the highest salary is 8.8lac (CTC)and lowest been offered is 5.5 lac + perks (CTC) and average salary will be around 6.5-7.0 lacs. Our placement week starts from 1 nov. The companies which are still in line to grap the talent are TCS, Polaris, HSBC, Citifinancial, SAP, TVS, Mahindra and Mahindra, Standard Chartered, Air Deccan, Titan, ICICI and many more.
I have gone through few queries like what is SDM IMD and how is it. One thing i can definitely say about SDM IMD that the institute has potential and it will be in top 15 or top 20 league in the coming 2 - 3 years or ealier because we the strength of facultly which is comparable to any ivy league college and eminent infrastructure and world class facilities.
Anyways friends i have a lot to tell u but as always i m running short of time.

The insti. looks good, and your enthu. too, but, could u tell me:-
1. Are there any new plans of expansion coming up in your institute,
2. Do they provide hostel facility?
3. what effort does one require (in gd and pi) to finally get thru into the insti.?

Institute is planning to tie-up with some top notch universities of US and Australia for student and faculty exchange program. Right now i cannt disclose the name of the universities but u will come to know it soon.
We have in campus hostel.
Apart from CAT score, gdπ academics n work experience carry a significant weightage.

It seems as if it was yesterday. I was coming from Indore and landed in Mysore. A city I had never been, South India was still an unexplored zone for me till that time. 22 months went away like wind and now its time for me to pack my bags again. I got placed in Telcon (A Tata Enterprise) with an annual CTC of 5.5 lacs p.a. The time I spent in SDM-IMD has been the best of my life. I learnt what corporate culture was. Used to start my day with yoga classes at 5:00 in morning. Used to somehow manage to have my breakfast and get ready for a looooooooong day ahead. I used to always curse myself for getting into an institution where there is hurry everywhere. Now I realize that I was getting ready to get into the world where I'll have to race against time day in and day out. Celebrating birthdays together, writing assignments, doing projects, submissions just in time etc. will now be only a beautiful memory to cherish. I will never ever forget in my life where I made my friends for life.
