We had a good set of faculty as well as infrastructure and placements are also comparatively good....................................
life here is like a suspense triller with lot of street plays, IMLP programs, rural camps, market surveys and research, III programs and some other work shops ........................all in all to me its a good exposure center having students from almost 18 states of India ........

After being so active on PG i thought i should continue my association with it even after going to a B-school. So this thread will be my attempt to describe how life is at SCMS-Cochin.
Firstly i need to introduce this college since not many people would have heard about it, the college was established in 1976 with journalism course and started PGDM in 1992. Its one of the top colleges in Kerala( There isn't much competition there!) They accept both CAT and MAT scores.
Our college is a bit late in starting its new batch,it starts on 26th july.
Having talked to alumni and seniors i have got to know some information about the college and i was repeatedly told that it is very strict. For someone like me who is 
this will be a change.
I am leaving tomorrow and will reach there on 24th and will write my next post on this thread from there. I hardly got to see any seniors on PG,so this is also an attempt to represent my college at PG. :)
If possible i shall also ask my 'new' friends to post their experiences.

There was some problem with the hostel wifi and i was not able to log in to PG as it was banned in college on the pretext that it is a global chat room
So far my experience has been good 😃 Better than what i expected.
So let me try to put my experience so far in a few words:)
When i came to the hostel i was feeling weird as it was my first time at a hostel,but now it feels as if i am living here for years!!
There are students from all over the country like West bengal,Jharkand,UP,Bihar,Gujarat,Delhi,Chattisgarh,Orissa and many more states :)
We have a blend of all cultures:-o
Right now Foundation course is going on and it is going to finish in a few weeks. It is mainly to have level playing field for graduates from all streams,
and for engineers accounting is surely a problem
But as of now i am understanding the concepts.
We are going to celebrate Onam a kerala special festival after a few days and we have many traditional games.
As far as faculty is concerned we have some pretty good experienced teachers, our dean is Paulose sir who has 20 years of industry experience and 15 academic experience!! He is teaching us Economics and he is like a knowledge tank :)
We also have teachers who have studied from FMS,IRMA .
I am not advertising about my college but to be frank i am actually surprised at the quality 😃
I shall try to post regularly here so that i represent my college at PG.
PS: I am a die-hard optimist so these views are expressed from a optimist point of view.
pLS dont do the mistake of joining this college,....absolutelty wrong decision...trust me.....u look for other colleges ...but never this...

i got a call from scms and have been collecting all the info i can on it. i have applied for the mba program. how good is it?? how is the environment there? are you as optimist about it as you were in the quoted post??

we are having a decent placements in scms for the 2011 passouts...overall i would say this is one of the better b schools to join through MAT..
The strict culture is one difficult thing to adapt but if u can spend two years, it will be useful for the future...

i have applied for PGDM in SCMS.the specialisation options are BANKING & INSURANCE,RETAIL & MERCHANDISING, & GENERAL MANAGEMENT.
I was looking forward to do my PGDM in Marketing.But i don't see it as an available option.Or is it because its a PGDM they have named it differently or these are the only options.It would be great if u could throw some light on this.

Marketing is compulsory for pgdm general mgt.Dual specialisation is also possible.Only highly talented students get the oppurtunity to deselect marketing.

for HR we dont hv much placements offer....but this year we have very good placements in Finance, banking,retail and systems.....
