Life @ K J Somaiya Institute of Management

"I bow at His Feet constantly, and pray to Him, the Guru, the True Guru, has shown me the Way."

-Sri Guru Nanak

As we commemorate the auspicious occasion of Gurpurab, we remember the teachings of love, peace and faith in the Almighty that Guru Nanak Dev Ji sought to teach us.

May he inspire us to achieve all our goals, bless us with positivity, and bestow us with eternal joy.

K J Somaiya Institute of Management shapes young individuals into corporate-ready socially responsible professionals, providing holistic development to the students. Our CSR initiatives/activities such as Ankur ELI, Enactus and Melange reflect the same.

Talking about his experience with Ankur ELI, Kaustubh, (2020-22 batch) says, "It teaches me patience accompanied by voluminous bliss every single time."

Abhishek (2020-22 batch) describes his experience with Enactus as not only enterprising but also ā€œa rainbow of learning" which helps add colours to the lives of the beneficiaries.

ā€œCSR events in Melange allowed me to reflect on my inner values and give back to society in the right manner. It was indeed an enlightening experience to help visually challenged individualsā€, says Govind (2019-2021 batch).

Every year, on 1 December, the world commemorates World AIDS Day. People around the world unite to show support for people living with and affected by HIV and to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first-ever global health day.

This coming #WorldAIDSDay will be very different from normal. COVID-19 is showing once again how health is interlinked with other critical issues, such as reducing inequality, human rights, gender equality, social protection and economic growth. With this in mind, this year the theme of World AIDS Day is "Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility". The theme focuses on the global commitment to deliver quality, people-centered HIV prevention and treatment services for impact.
Even today more than 12 million people are still waiting to get on HIV treatment and 1.7 million people became infected with HIV last year because they could not access essential services.

As we approach the end of 2020, the world is in a dangerous place and the months ahead will not be easy. Only Global Solidarity and Shared Responsibility will help us to beat the coronavirus and end the AIDS epidemic and guarantee the right to health for all people.

We, at K J Somaiya Institute of Management believe in holistic development of our students. And what better way there is to do this than sharing wise words of wisdom.

Mr. Vivek Bansal, Group CEO, Coastal Marine Construction and Engineering Limited (COMACOE), delivered an engaging lecture at K J Somaiya Institute of Management about the Marine Construction Industry, which was organized by the Guest Lectures Committee (@guestlecture.simsr).

He introduced ongoing projects like marine piling, seawalls, ports and harbours handled by COMACOE. In addition, he explained how such projects are vital for the development and growth of the sector. As an experienced business leader and strategist, he also took the opportunity to dispel certain misconceptions concerning the marine industry. He concluded with an informative discussion on Low-Temperature Thermal Desalination Plant and Shoreline Protection, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

Trust yourself, you know more than you think you do. You've come a long way to realize your dreams and remember that there's no going back. K J Somaiya Institute of Management accepts CAT, XAT, CMAT and GMAT scores. Buckle up for the chances to better your best scores. All the best!

Growing might feel like breaking at first. While the whole world is healing from the pandemic, K J Somaiya Institute of Management ensured to take steps and extended a helping hand through a counseling session for students for their mental well being. Because that, what's not talked about, also has the power to hurt. Breaking the stereotypes, talking out loud, how "Mental health is priority, happiness is essential, and self-care is necessity," tips and to-dos to help students through harder days were shared during the induction process as a part of the holistic development of the students. To have a hand to hold onto, and to have a listening ear is sometimes all that we might need at a day's end. The efforts of the institute made sure that students find the transition of studying into a business school from an online mode smoother, and eases out stress especially during the pandemic.
