Hello this is Sandeep Kotla from Amrita School of Business (ASB).
Well, the purpose of this thread is to share our experiences from our school, we would like to update here
1) The daily dose of exposure we have here through the expert talks (what we call Colloquia here)
2) The culture we follow and the festivals we celebrate here.
3) The events we participate (outbound), (well we might or not win), but share the learning we derived from them.
4) The events we conduct and share our experiences of the interaction we have with students from various B-schools.
5) The multilingual/ cultural movies (and a little review on them) we screen here every Friday (what we call Colloquia Talkies)

the reason for this thread is that we expect students from other B-schools to know what happens here and share their views, experiences and stories in return.

We at Amrita School of Business often ranted about early morning prayer (the 5 minutes we dedicate before beginning classes or any event for that matter) and the ranting was so rampant that we finally converted them into a non mandatory 5mins. Until we realized how the corporate world is hugely impressed with this practice of our college.
last evening Mr Sunil Biyani, Director Future Group, was here and he went nostalgic witnessing a prayer of ours and recalled the first factory he opened...
he spared a 1 hour query, post dinner session in our college answering our questions relating strategies for store allocations and promotions.
The best among his replies was for the the question; what are your strategies for Walmart?
Ans. walmart should come with a strategy to face big bazaar in India,
and the day before Mr Shanmuga Ganesh VP Sales, Payoda Technologies, stressed on the prominence of prayer while addressing best practices of conducting business, Human Sigma, Terminator management...
this made me wonder why we often ignore the treasure within and leave in search of mines else where...

@ raghav the second one is from a different campus, we thought the stack of activities from ASB coimbatore together would be more meaningful, and the first one is a pure admissions concerned thread. this one is an update of daily activities from our school we are updating on every networking platform and so in pagal guy... this one is a methodical initiative and would be passed on to our juniors to cling to it, hence it is appropriate not to club with any other thread.

Exams time at ASB,
writing a cocktail of exams back to back.
sales and distribution with strategy management,
portfolio management with consumer behavior.
exams are the only time we see our faculty quite, otherwise it is so hard to imagine some of them in class yet not talking.
this reminds my SDM professor Mr Kulkarni's words-Once upon a time, at ASB there was no invigilator system,
@Mail2shiv, last time the CAT cut of for Coimbatore campus was 75 percentile, I guess it would've been little low for Bangalore campus.

ALUMNI BOOT-CAMP FOR PLACEMENTS AT AMRITA COIMBATORE:
ASB conducted a two days boot-camp for us, the current second year batch.
WHAT THEY DID FOR US~ THE ALUMNI
They flew, they drove and even went nocturnal to reach the campus,
There was left no topic uncovered in preparing us for the big days of our lives.
They read through every line of our resume and devoted every second of their stay, to us.
They took us back to their days, literally enacting every scene of their interview, brought to life every moment they faced.
Inspired, motivated, enlightened, made us laugh and yes even sang for us...
and thus boot camp ended as one of the most productive two days of our campus.

- (written exam on 10th, GD & Interview for the shortlisted students on 18th) applicable for Finance stream only.
- (Aptitude, GD & Interview on 15th Oct, Profile: Management Trainees, applicable to all Streams)

@RETRIBUTION: Sir ASB (Amrita School of Business) is a Branch of AMRITA UNIVERSITY (AMRITA VISHWA VIDHYAPEETHAM) and has been offering MBA course since 1996. The 350 acre campus is located near Coimbatore, in a place called Ettimadai, . In the past 4-5 years ASB also opened new campuses in Kochi, Bangalore, Amritapuri. ASB Alumni reunion for the ones in Mumbai, Dean ASB Mr GK ASB Coimbatore Faculty-Dr. Gurumurthy Kalyanaram came up with this interesting way to meet the Alumni, on his way from the US yesterday. For the Alumni this reunion gave a great relief from their busy corporate lives and for us, we got out Alumni message carried by Mr GK himself.
