Hello,
There have been few threads in the past for HEC Montreal MBA, However this is the one for prospective students / applications for Class of 2014.
Calling all applicants / alumni / current students of HEC Montreal MBA.
Submitted my application and documents yesterday.
Hello Ayonde,
Thanks for creating this thread.
So wats your profile? nd wat attracted you towards HEC Montreal?
Cheers
@goan55 Hi goan.
(You from Goa?, if so, I envy you!)
I will have 6.3 years by this Fall. with some international experience in Europe. GMAT score is 630, have taken multiple times and not giving again.
Well, I was in touch with Mukul, who graduated last year and HEC Montreal was on my radar because of the following.
1) General Management Curriculum
2) Ability to customize with Electives
3) Low tuition fees - Good ROI (statistically speaking, though actual results are dependent on many factors)
4) Diversity of students
If you are looking for a 1 year MBA program, there are several in Europe / UK / Canada. However Europe & UK presents challenges in VISA / post MBA PR.
If you are sure of your career goals and wish to work towards learning French then you can think of getting a Canadian (Quebec) PR with HEC Montreal MBA. Hautes Etudes Commerciales - Monreal is highly respected in the Montreal / Quebec area.
Hello,
My profile
GMAT - 650
Exp - 4 yrs in IT
Good academics , moderate extra/co curricular activities
I dint get a date yet ..
the mail says it can be sometime in next two weeks..
@Krishna78 Hello Krishna,
Good to have you here. I read few of your previous threads/posts. Can you please share your experience and opinions about Montreal based Bschools / Canadian B schools and HEC - Montreal in particular?
Also throw some light on the job situation in Montreal and Canada.
BR
Ayon
@Krishna78 What is your opinion of John Molson - Concordia University?
I know that 1 year program in Montreal presents limited opportunity since it yields in only 1 year PR and most job requires speaking fluent french.
@Krishna78 I thought JMSB is good, since its a 2 year program that will give 3 year PR. it has Co-Op option that students can earn while still study, and if they can pick up french they can try for Quebec Immigration.
Also JMSB is $ 42,000 and Montreal has low cost of living as compared to Toronto. Toronto colleges are way costly. And I have heard that most students get salary in the range of 50-60,000. ........so JMSB looked attractive wit $ 42,000 for 2 years and give 3 year PR.
@Krishna78 Hi Bro,
I had a word with few desis (Libra85) who is there in JMSB. He told me that it is difficult and thats because of French constraint.
Can you please share your research? it will help me and all of the readers! Do you feel that except for French there are any other bottlenecks ?
I am learning French and will appear for DELF A1 in March 2013 and A2 in August 2013. If I decide to land in Montreal I will continue working towards B1. Other than French and PR what other obstacles can a desi face?

Hello Mukul,
I have been invited for interview.What kind of questions should I expect? and how much time will I have to accept the offer in case I get an admit?
Thanks,
Viji
Hello @vijisathasivam ,
check previous year threads..all possible questions have been covered.
You will have 30 days to accept the offer (this was the time-frame given to me in 2011, I do not think it has changed now)
Also, HEC interview is not exactly an interview...its a 2 way conversation in which candidate speaks more. Make sure you are clear on your motivation to do MBA and post-mba goals.
Let me know in case you have any doubts.
Regards,
Mukul

@Mukul:
I understand that you passed out from HEC in 2012. Would it be ok for you to share your current profile in terms of company/salary package/location/designation for us to have a better understanding on placement stats.
