Hi,

I am looking for feedback on IIM Lucknow GMPE Course
if anyone can help. The course fee is 3.5 Lacs for a Year!

1) The Course contents.
2) Future Prospect
3) This course is part time so what will be its industry value?

Any feedback?

hi..I have a call from IIML's GMPE starting 5th Nov. I dug in to details and figured this programme though the first of its kind by IIML is better off than the satellite pgm they previously launched in May this yr. This is in line to the part time classroom course launched by other IIMs. Regd its credibility, like all part time classroom pgms there is no campus of course but after talking to my HR in my current organization (Infosys), i figured they give due weightage to such programs, and it shall assist me in changing my current stream from technology to consulting/mgmt ( i personally prefer it to PMP any time). Suggest u talk to ur current org regd what benefits in terms of career growth can they offer u post completion..

cheers

Hi,

To confirm, did u got an offer from IIL GMPE Course and would suggest me to try for it? Thanks for the advise.

yes my name figures @ S.no 12 on the list published (Kushal). They sent over the hard copy of the invite. I have accepted the offer based on feedback i received from some of my friends @ IIM and some profs who i personally know...do u have a invite too?

Congrats Kushal!! My younger brother got into it and i was concerned if i should pay off the fees!
I completed my MBA last year (Non IIM). I had dream of getting him to IIM.

I shall be calling up IIML tomm to find out how many ppl have sent their acceptance...should give an idea of how ppl are weighing it...

I think thats a good idea. Do let me know the information you get from IIM Lucknow!

Hi Pankutinku and gaps,

Could you please let me know how has the experience of 4 modules of 9 days each been? Is it worth it or the satellite version in better? Also, how was the batch? Were you able to guage the industry response to this course?

Hi,
I am posting an older reply for your purpose. Hope it covers all ur queries:-

1. What is the current batch strength ?
A. Its a batch of 55 students.

2. What is the profile of your batch mates based on - a) job exp b) age c) industry background (IT,banking, ITES etc)
A. The avg work exp of the batch is 15-16 yrs (even though the criterion is min 5 yrs). Majority is from the IT background from all over the country. However there is a sizeable population from PSU (Indian Oil, Coal India etc.). There are pretty solid people holding significant positions in their field.

3. What is the commitment after campus classes which are help for 9 days in 4 months, are there any assignments etc which are required to be done during after classes.
A. At the initiation of this batch, officially it was meant to be purely an executive education programme (however at the end of term 2 there has been a development which is still in initial stage --see pt 6). This course is meant as a force-multiplier and assists in transitioning your field and profile in your current industry. Even though it is for 9 days on campus, you are free to walk in to the Lucknow/Noida IIM campuses any day during this course as they give you id cards for that purpose. You are free to use the library for your research purpose.
To tell you frankly DO NOT take this course lightly as your actual work starts after those 9 days. We are all strugging to prepare for the exams and complete individual assignments/group projects till now - we are to go back for the next term on 11th Feb and we face the exams for the 1st term on day 1&2. It actually gives you a feel of a near full time owing to its rigour.
The arrangement for stay and course structure is fantastic. They have crammed key subjects and topics to impart them in 9 days (sessions start at 9 am and usually ended at 8-9 pm depending on your willingness to know more (the IIM profs it seem have endless capacity to teach)). Add to it there can be surprise tests and quizes (in which the majority flunks). They actually expect you to study after u get back from the 12 hr gruelling day schedule. However dont expect the rigour of a full time MBA as you cant learn in 240 hrs what you get to learn in 2 yrs, but you get to have a fair overview of major subjects in management.

4. How good is the course design ?
A. Excellent per IIM standards. However it is carefully crafted to impart you key topics of major Management subs. Original books of the subjects are provided term wise. Sessions r imparted using projector and slides, and slides are shared after the session (ensure you get your pen drives and laptops).

5. Who are the faculty ?
A. Faculty is the full time PGP profs, which undoubtedly is a class apart. You need to experience it to believe it.

6 Are you guys pushing for allowing you campus placement opportunity ?
A. YES we are. At end of term 2 we are proposing that our individual profiles be posted on IIML website (in line of the PGP batch) and that they be given access to industry for placement purposes. However its still in the planning stage, we have been floating out draft versions of our profiles.

7. What possible gains do u foresee post this course ?
See answer to pt 1.

For other queries please drop a mail/call on the email id/phone no mentioned in the brochure.

Thanks

Hi "gaps030980" ,
I am planning to apply for the 2nd batch of the same course being talked about here. I am from Engineering background and have close to 6 years of experience in IT industry. From what I can infer from your above post, is, I dont really stand a chance of getting selected mainly because my experience is less. Could you please tell me if there was any candidate in your batch with experience as less as mine? You have told the average experience, can you tell me the range of experience in your batch of participants?

Regards
Raj

Dude im 6.5 myself frm IT background...im one of the outliers...less exp is no concern if u have achievements/awards/and exceptional quality of work ex (onsite assignments, variety in professional roles etc..)

Thanks gap for the moral boost-up... Not sure, how would they evaluate the quality of my profile as I'm from Product Development background .. So, u can understand , "no onsites" for us..anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed ... lets c how it goes ... would like to get in touch with you in case I get selected.. Thanks again for the reply!

Hi "gaps030980",

Hi Abhishek,
Yes, I have received a Admission mail from IIML which I guess, they would have sent to every selected candidate. I mean, mine was not a personalized mail and it was addressed like " Dear GMPE Applicant, you have been selected.... " , this makes me feel that they have sent it to everybody ... in fact, they have mentioned that the hard copy of the same mail has been couriered to our address. I am waiting for that.
What is your situation?
