@yashasvi5 said:does nyone has idea that what should be minimum work ex requirement for getting good college in USA/CANADA in addition to GMAT score? for applying in summer fall 2013 when should you be required to take GMATso that we don't miss the apllication deadlines?
hey yash,
usually there are 3 types of people who apply gmat. 1) with 2-3 years work ex. They apply for apply for general MBA program( 2 yrs program) or freshers apply for certain specific program which they expert in (but these people are rare and difficult to get good b- school. u should have very good profile).
2) People with 5-6 years work -ex apply specific course with relative work ex. There is big competition to get top b- school. these people also apply for executive course.
3) People with more than 6 yrs of work ex generally apply for executive program.
IF u have less than 1.5 yrs work ex it is usually not considered by top b-school . u considered as fresher. Now u see where u stand in above criteria.
TO take the gmat it is recommend to take before aug 2013 if u r apply for aug 2014 (fall). Because first round start on oct -nov 2013, second dec- jan 2013-14, third round feb- march 2014.
U should apply for first round, because probability of selection get decrease later round.
I hope this will help u.

hi,
To be really honest, i m also having same work ex.BUT it is very difficult for myself to get into ISB. i m not the expert to pradict ur chances into ISB with ur profile. I wolud say ISB has various program with 1 yr, 1.5 yrs and 2 yrs. It totally depends on which program ur targeting to. Profile quality and GMat scorses vary according to the program. But still applications cuming to ISB are very good qualified profiles with very high GMAT scorses. It also depends on which domain ur applying to such finance , marketing etc. ISB applicates are specific with there domain.
NOw ur profile academics . the type( relative work ex ur with ur MBA program) of work ex also make a difference during selection. How u justify work ex and profile also with ISB MBA lead in ur professional Carrier. One very imp factor is ur SOP and reco. These all factors considered ur profile. And offcourse ur GMAT very imp factor.
There are other colleges which accepts gmat scores are IIMs, S P jain, IIFT,etc. these are few good colleges i knw. And abt the loan dont have varied info. But Lots of B-schools hav tie-up with various banks. they can guide once ur selected. Even hav personal loan agreement with banks.
FOR more info u can contact directly to ISB consultants. they will guide. OR persons who in ISB. there are on various forum.
Gmat study strategy:- For verbal if ur weak , try to increase ur vocab and reading skills. u can buy book of NORMAN LEWIS. (both reading and vocab),once u develop that GO for MGMAT and Aristotle for SC, CRitical reasoning bible of powerscore for CR. and RC go for OG 11, 12, 13.
These are good books. quant go for Kaplan 800 for higher difficuty.
i hope this will help u!!!

Hi,
I have been working as an IT Analyst with IBM for the past 29 months. My profile-
X- 80.5%
XII- 65.8%
B.E- 63.4%
I am aiming for a couple of good universities in Australia (preferred but I have my options open for US as well). When would be the right time to write GMAT for Fall 2014 admissions?
Help would be much appreciated
Thank you 😃 :)
@ All GMAT takers... Pl. suggest me whether it is essential to go to a consultant for planning your studies abroad...
If there are trustworthy and informative websites having good information of the foreign universities...kindly post here or just PM me...
thx in adv.

Hey all,
I am a complete novice on GMAT's procedure and all. I am a fresher(2012 pass out) and will join Infosys in Sept-2013(got in thru campus placement). I am looking forward to give GMAT around June-July this year. I am planning to do MBA from ISB in 2016. For how long does the GMAT score remains valid? My profile- 10th(Maharashtra Board)- 78.80%, 12th(Maharashtra)-75.2%,B.E(ECE,Nagpur University)-70.1%. I was the Head event coordinator in two college forums, regularly participated and won various college level events, played in Harris shield cricket tournament during school days. I am planning to work for around 2 and half years at Infosys and will definitely bolster my profile during that time. Will my chances get affected as my GMAT score will be around 2.5 years old at that time? What is the format of GMAT(had prepared for CAT) and its difference from CAT? Thank You in advance. 😃
@SD100 Hi SD100,
The validity of a GMAT score is 5 years. The value of the score remains unchanged, so there is no worry about that. Also, for more details and learning (if needed) visit www.spanedea.com
All the best!

@rajatspanedea - Thank You.
Just one more question to ask. Should i enroll in some classes or rather go for a mock test package? In whose(classes, online site) mock test series should I apply?

@SD100 though the validity of GMAT score is 5 years but also it depends upon the institute, likewise - for executive mba program IIML consider gmat score if you have given it in last 3 years. Pl check the institute website regarding eligibility criteria. You can also have a look of gmatpill.com for online classes. Good Luck!

@SD100 Whether you should take up classes is dependent on 2 points: [1] Your self-assessment, [2] Your target score. Students generally find the Verbal section of the GMAT tough to crack, and if you are keen to equip yourself with proven GMAT testing strategies, then you should opt for classes. But ensure that before you take up a full course you are sure that the course will address your 'weaknesses'. Alternatively you can also check out this 3hr beginners GMAT Sentence Correction workshop by Priyanka - http://bit.ly/Y9De4J . Regarding Mock Tests, you should definitely give the GMAT Prep official tests - they are good.
@SD100 you have just completed your college. GMAT preparation IMO would not be ideal for you at this point. You said you have prepared for CAT and it would not be a bad idea to give couple of shots or 3 to CAT and then go for GMAT in case the C door is closed for you because all good colleges require qualitative work ex including ISB. So my advice at this time would be to concentrate on getting into very good Indian B school for first couple of years (top 10 may be. They are comparatively cheap too) and concentrate on your profile building. But yes, if your aim is to get into ISB only then it is a different story altogether.
Getting a good GMAT score is only a matter of few months but profile building is a requires time.
Coming to coaching, yes you do require one for CAT but GMAT is all about practice, speed and analyzing your solutions. Not sure if other puys out here agree with me.
